Hope TheBus isn't working on having the oldest fleet in the nation...

One of my friends from the OTS heard from his coworkers in the central department, due to the rail construction coming into town which leads to bus shortage so yes this time due to heavy traffic and canceled routes, they need some extra buses even if they are old or not because next three or four bus orders that were listed around this month are expected to be arriving until next year or later end of this year. So it’s gonna take while for these orders to be completed and delivered. Hey guys FYI, my friend told me that it’s up to central of the OTS then they talk to the DOT head of command to the retire buses or not including anything related to transportation like insurance if they can fix the buses or not just like they did to bus 925 for example.
ieko
Actually, the reason the fleet is old is because DTS lacks the staff to procure.. among other things. DTS determines all bus acquisition and retirements. The city could run the existing service with fewer buses, but that's not something they've been interested in doing.

Yes your correct about the DOT Services determination of the acquisition and retirements and thanks for letting me know about the second part of the DOT Services interests.
Jared Kam
Are they choosing to fix 925?? It's just insane to me that TheBus is gunning to be the last transit agency with green flip dot destination signs, let alone the last transit agency with high floor buses. I figured that bus services would not be a priority with rail being constructed but this is definitely surprising. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Phantom just as much as the next person, but they are definitely showing signs of age and they've got to be hanging on by a thread. Hawaii's climate and the exposure to ocean salt make it a grueling environment to operate any vehicle. Any word on the driver barriers? I heard they were looking at a prototype...
Williamv
More new buses! //www.schatz.senate.gov/press-releases/honolulu-set-to-receive-nearly-6-million-to-improve-public-transit-system-with-new-zero-emission-buses
Williamv
There already have been too many complaints about TheBus HEA tracker on this forum. I hate piling on, because I’m sure OTS has problems with staffing, etc. during the Covid pandemic. But for the last couple of weeks, the system, at some times of the day, has been virtually worthless. It goes way beyond all the No GPS buses. For example, at stop 53, Liliha and King, there were no Route 3 buses listed today (6/4) between 3:01 p.m. and 4 p.m. That simply was not true. And there are similar omissions every day.
Alika.valdez1234
FORGOT YESTERDAY 528 had a petty collision yesterday afternoon with a Silver Nissan Frontier truck. The silver truck is the cause of the accident. Sorry no pictures... And today bus 147 was mistakenly involved with some foreign lady.... the bus 147 never hit her!!!! I feel bad for my bus driver friend M’am Em that she wasted all her time just because some foreign lady no like accept the fact that we never hit her!!!! We had also passengers saw what happened and we all against her claim.. it was another vessel that hit her, that vessel was in front of bus 147, that Vessel that hit that car was behind it, and that vessel who hit that foreign lady’s car ran away and now this foreign lady is saying that we hit her???? UGHHHH.

Williamv
Today (6/15) is Honolulu’s final day of accepting bids for 29 to 35-foot battery electric buses, 40-foot clean diesel buses and 60-foot diesel buses. Wednesday (6/17) is the final day for 40-foot battery electric buses. If anybody knows or can find out what we’re getting, please let us all know.

Cruz, Metro Manila heading to Mabalacat in Pampanga, and suprisingly an addition I have seen more Honolulu buses that were sold to a Partas so far I’ve seen three buses around, bus 777 & 790 at Del Pilar Rd in Candon City as bus 777 heading to Pagudpud and 790 not in service, and bus 778 passing by Urbiztondo Beach along MacArthur Highway heading to its last stop in La Union. But so far no buses 641 & 643 around. Just saw the Philippine news channel while watching TV Patrol that I spotted ex. Honolulu’s TheBus & ex. Partas Co. 641 & 643 repainted in blue green & white scheme with its original white unit number sticker still intact above the driver side window parked along with a couple 60 FT articulated BYD K11 buses and some Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, well ex. 641, 643 were bought by another transit company called MyBus from the island of Cebu. It was something about the company raising it’s fares but I couldn’t capture pictures of the moment where it showed the base yard of the MyBus company until it went to another’s news topic on TV Patrol.
Alika.valdez1234
I have seen mostly of the 201-224 600s, & 801-866 series buses running route 1 Kahala Mall everyday from Mon-Fri first run in the morning until somewhere around 12:30 to 1:00pm Mixed with Kalihi buses as well. Wow I’m sure the East Siders are really enjoying the buses that they have never seen or rode before like 201-224 and the 801-866 but yes the 600s series were once a Kalihi joy because some of the 600s were once from Kalihi before like 601-611 & 659-663 and yes I remember which 600s that were belonged to Kalihi before as well!

Williamv
Any word on the winning bidders for the four new bus orders finalized this week for OTS? Or how many new buses? In any other city, this information would be widely known after being revealed in the newspaper and elsewhere. For some reason, Honolulu always treats it like a military secret.

But on 61, or any other speed routes they are the speed demons...and they should’ve put them in pearl city garage in the first place. look at my videos see how fast they are. It’s just that you don’t see them run very fast too often because they are used on the known to be slowest route ever known as the route 1 or 2 and sometimes the 1L as well. Hey not talking about how often they come but they come on time but how they run their buses because of more than often bus stops.
