Are you Wvankirk on Wikipedia? If so, glad to see you still around.

About a year ago, I have Wikipedia's article on TheBus bookmarked before the information on the current and historic fleets was eliminated, possibly due to personal observations being unreliable as a source. It's way better than that Gutenberg article I mentioned way earlier in the thread. Not sure why I haven't discovered this yet when I was getting the gist of bus-fanning here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=TheBus_(Honolulu)&oldid=584647412#Fleet

For me, it's a bit of a fuzzy memory. I did see a quad-digit Phantom back when I was a kid for the first time (around the Mayor Wright housing area). I wish I saw it for the second time back in the past, but I was an unfortunate shut-in back then.

I would guess that the NHHTC were rated for 300 or 350 horsepower on those. Seeing as though that OTS favored Allison transmissions back then, I would also guess that they coupled those NH pancakes with the HT-740.

This may be a bit of a repost, but I have one account of the Crown Ikarus 286s being terrible buses to operate on. I heard a few stories of those units from a friend - a current operator in his late 50s - who has experience of using those. I'll get to that later on.

5. I spent every summer there from 89'-02' and I never once remember seeing a quad digit phantom and I was a bus freak. I would have to see a photo of one to truly believe it existed. I guess there's always a chance one will pop up ?

There are more buses running out there and they should update that thing. And some of them are retired. There's also more of new buses out there also.

Bus 187 is back in service! The reason why the bus was not running for while is because the electrical wire problem between the articulation of the bus, it was defected. There was three main power wires that was defected. The whole bus couldn't turn on. But I'm glad that the mechanics figured out the problem after a while and fixed it.

That's why #187 wasn't running for about a year. Once , a malfunction was found in #880 - #884 and now is running now. I found out from a bus driver that some of the 6 2017 NewFlyer XD60s ( #880 - #885 ) are probably on GPS. Haven't seen #880 - #885 on the GPS. And by the way , How did you get the information about #187?

Just so I understand.... all 700's were retired as of late last year, and now some of them are being un-retired? What would make the OTS make this type of decision, especially with new buses entering service?

I feel that I can only trust the vehicle specs from the OTS administration at this point, as it is standard procedure to buy new buses to get rid of the oldest ones in the fleet. I can only take the subject of the 700-series coming back with multiple grains of salt. It sounds like absolute nonsense. That is where I currently stand, but I might change my mind if someone here can take a picture of the bus boneyard (time-stamp preferred) that shows the remaining 700-series in all its glory.

For God's sakes, I was aiming for those two. Ehhh, guess I'll have to make do without those. Any chance you could take pictures of the two I underlined?

Those are my thoughts and concerns exactly. Ive been scouring the HEA to see a 700 series but no such luck as of yet.

For me, I can't rely on the HEA 100% of the time. For example, some of the 1997 and 1998 Phantoms I'm searching for are still out there, but have non-working GPS signals as of late. I might make it an assignment to watch for some 700-series on the roads here. If I find none of them running, then I just wasted my time.

AuditorMSP deserves 0 subscribers and or less subscribers. Anyways , they're not a waste of freaking time. NO GPS.

So the 700-series (if they are back and running) will not have GPS activated? In that case could we please get some pictures as well as a temp roster from those of you on the island and in the know? Thanks to all of you!

Okay, by reading that comment, we obviously know you are a child (Under 13 I am assuming)

Once again I have to agree with Rotidua on this. GPS is always inaccurate. Also just letting you know that "No GPS" actually means that a bus and its driver is not assigned to that particular route (I acutally know this since my coworker also works for OTS)

In other words, OTS will NEVER bring a bus that was retired back to the streets. That mean that the 700s will never be back on that streets (it's a waste of money)

Any busses with out security cameras, will be retired by the end of this year
