Root Admin ORION Posted November 22, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 22, 2006 Oakville 2101 had a TwinVision Chroma I sign retrofitted, replaced from the Megamax 3000 LED. Surprised me the sign brokedown already to get it replacement? I saw that today too...I didn't hear anything about this, but I can only assume they're wanting to standardize the signs (Twin Vision Signs in most of our buses now). #2104 is in the "body shop" so only assuming they'll change its sign as well... I did see #2102 today. It still has its old sign. There's nothing wrong with those signs. They work perfectly fine. The one's on the 1995 D40LFs were extremly slow, and were all changed. On another note, expect our new D40LFR delivery at anytime, between now and December, if there are no delays.

newflyerinvero
Could a transit system go onto Ebay and purchase it? It'd be nice of Burlington Transit can snag this... I remember when I last rode it several months ago...pretty good condition.

I remember when I last rode it several months ago...pretty good condition. #882? Good Condition? I dont think so... That bus is probably one of the worst we've had running in service for awhile. It was the first to go out of the 3 Orion Is recently retired. #861 went after, then wiht #872. #861 is probably the best out of the three, since it had alot of body work done. I dont understand why they're selling it in U.S dollars, when its located in Kitchener, ON, just off the 401... Anyone can purchase this bus, but I highly doubt anyone will, at least a transit system. There's quite alot of false advertising about that unit. It was NOT properly maintained, and it does not have a Cat Engine inside it...

D40LF 7033-03, Orion V 7062-90 and Invero 7023-03 were on the 1/10. Oakville Transit: Hopedale Mall: 4109 and 4106 (14) 6101 (22) 883 (OOS) 4107, (15) 4105 (16) Oakville GO, 1:25pm: 4105 (20), 4110 (24), 5105 (26), 4103 (27) 9912 (28), 9902 (19), 2101 (17), 2103 (16) 6105 (14) Just want to point out that while on the 24 to South Common Mall, 4110 had a mysterious gas small coming from the back. I was in teh back and I had smelt it really heavily. I got off at around Winston Churchill as the smell was overwhelming (not to mention that I wanted to transfer to the MT 45 to begin with) Mind you, I had 3 consecutive VII's on my way from Burlington to Mississauga....4106 (12:15 from Lakeside on the 14...then on the 1pm 16 from Hopedale Mall was 4105 followed by 4110...not so much the variety that I'm usually seeing...oh well. Root Admin ORION Posted November 27, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 27, 2006 Oakville Transit #2104 should be back on the road tomorrow with a new Twin Vision Destination Sign. I did get an official word that all four units will receive new signs. The luminators are starting to not work too well (kinda surprised), and they also want to phase out the flip dot signs, and replace them with LEDs. #2102 will be sent out to Eastway tomorrow morning after its AM Rush-Hour Run, as soon as #2104 returns. Once #2104 returns, #2103 will go in.

newflyerinvero
Burlington Transit: Classic 7005-85 and Invero 7025-03 (rolling Blueberry) were on the 11/15 A Blue Bird was on the 15/11, didn't see the HF trip bus however. The 6 had Classic 7055-87. The 4/5 I believe had a Classic on it. First time in a long, long while where any sort of 'big bus' was used on those routes, much less a HF. 7001-84 was the particular Classic. The 2/3 had Orion V 7068-91, D40LF 7035-06. Rush-hour add ons were Classics 7016-83 and 7004-85. I should note that 7004-85 rattles quite a bit, especially at the back of the bus. It's the only Classic, along with 7007-85, which currently still don't have the side signs. The 3/2 had D40LF 7034-06 (Rolling Flower Pot), Orion V 7079-94. I saw this bus's door-side's ad rack and finally, it's empty. I guess while it was in the shop, the half ad was taken off. Classics 7006-86 and 7014-83. The 8 had Classic 7011-83. The 12 had Orion V 7066-91 and Classic 7007-85. The 1/10 had Inveros 7009, 7018 (Strawberry Swirl), 7022, 7023 and 7024-03 along with D40LF 7035-06. The mid-day HF bus was GM New Look 7047-82...ya...first time it's ever been on those routes in god knows how long... Rush hour add on buses were: Orion V's 7061, 7062-90, 7065, 7069-91 and 7077-94. The GO Specials had Classic 7012-83 on the 62 while Classic 7015-83 on the 61.

newflyerinvero
Nothing too much unusual today out of Burlington and/or Oakvile, but do want to point out these little tidbits. I had only seen 1 Orion I in service today, between 3:55pm and 4:25pm. I'm sure the others were around but out of the last few times I've been there, I'm seeing less and less. Of course I know what time of day to see them... From Burlington, for a few weeks now, which seems to be a regular occourance now, a Blue Bird, 7031-06 was on the 15/11. It'd either be on that interlined route or the 11/15. I'd also want to point out that one day last week, at 6:30pm, the low floor bus which would be on the 15/11 came into the Appleby GO Station and was ready to depart as the 11, to be the 11/15. The other LF bus on the 11/15 then came into the 15 bay and started to be a 15/11 for the rest of the evening.

Root Admin ORION Posted December 1, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted December 1, 2006 Oakville Transit 1986 Orion I #862 has been retired from service, on November 30th, 2006. This is the first bus in the new livery to be retired (if you dont count #900 - Orion II). So this would be the first conventional bus in the new livery, to be off the road. This wipes out the two 1986 Orion Is #861 and #862 officially... It's parked at the back, under the canopy, with farebox removed, as well as ad frames, and I believe license plates. It was a good bus, and sad to see it go. Quite surprised they got rid of this one so soon. It got a new cap back in 2001, after a serious accident... Bye #862!
