Miller has been occasionally parking the odd XD40 out in the oval stub road staging area by the office parking lot after the PM rush. Not sure why though. You could probably get a nice picture there.

Alternatively, they are parked in the first row facing Woodbine.

All week so far.

Out of curiosity, were the 11s delivered with bike racks or were they installed after delivery?

installed after delivery

Times have changed then. I find Miller employees nowadays are some of the kindest bunch you can ask for in terms of customer service, including to transit enthusiasts.

EDIT: 1402 out on a training run today.

it's fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

popped by today and saw 1417 parking in the cul-de-sac facing into the yard, but still very nice to see then, there's also one parked at veolia in the northern lot, not hard to miss since it's the only bus in that lot full of cars

Rapidway has opened east of East Beaver Creek, one week early.

Viva Purple is operating full artic service today, not sure if to celebrate the opening or it'd possibly be the new Sunday norm.

I've noticed that the rapidway is only one lane under the 404, how will buses navigate that stretch during rush hour (or are the buses timed that well that it will never happen)

I usually commute on 7 and I haven't seen a viva bus meet each other on that end. But I think the different transit priority signals between the 404 off ramp intersections will direct one way traffic from that stretch.

eastbound buses have a jump light before the 404, buses merge into mixed traffic to go under the bridge, then merge back into the ROW after.... Westbound stays in the rapidway......

Seeing how this is the first board meeting after summer, lots of YRT/Viva-related things in the agenda, including 2014 and 2015 service plan updates, Viva Network Expansion Plan, Spadina Subway Transit Strategy, July ridership statistics, and route performance assessment.

Well, I WAS going to go to sleep, but I gotta read all this juicy stuff. Thanks for the link!

EDIT: Not surprised by the lack of attendance/knowledge of YRT in East Gwillimbury. The area it was done, Sharon, is a bit higher-up in terms of household income and service is only with the 50 on Leslie and 58 through Mount Albert Sideroad.

A request to provide direct service from the Holland Landing area to Sharon bypassing the Town of Newmarket.

It could work once all the development is done with service to the main community areas. Otherwise, I don't see a real need for this route except for people from Sharon to get to the Holland Landing library and people from Holland Landing to get to the civic center/recreation complex. Even then, it'd be seldom used.

Also, ouch, only 1 person at the King session...

YRT's taking over GO Transit's old Newmarket garage too. I don't blame GO for moving, it's a real pain for buses to get out on Yonge now.

Just wondering

What is the purposes of the 4th row of lights on the traffic signals at the rapidway 404 underpass?

The top row (is that what you're referring to?) is a white vertical bar, like the left turn lights for orange and 20 at Jane and Interchange Way. When a bus is travelling eastbound, it has to exit the rapidway under the 404 bridge. To do this safely, eastbound traffic will get a red light about 10 seconds before westbound traffic and the transit priority signal allows the bus to merge in safely. Buses are not allowed to merge unless the white bar is lit. Not sure why there is one westbound as the bus doesn't leave the rapidway.

If there is a curious question about the powertrains of the old Orion buses YRT used to have, it is about the torque converters and their stall ratios. Would anyone happen to know the exact torque converter and stall ratio of these following buses? I will be listing guesstimates.

Grade ability: first gear ratio x torque converter stall ratio

506 - 1980 Orion I 01.501 (ex-Richmond Hill Transit 506)

507 - 1981 Orion I 01.501 (ex-Richmond Hill Transit 507)
