Ex-GO Coaches

Here's New York Airport Service #147, an ex-GO MCI A-Series (the imprint of the GO logo could be seen on the front, although not very well in this photo.) Quite ironically it carries an adwrap for JetBlue Airways, advertising their service to be "more than just a bus with wings." Anyone know the former GO number?

That'd be an ex GO 102A2, 1400 series.

Possibly the easiest method for ID'ing an ex GO 102A2 is looking at the front top corners by the rollsign where the former fleet numbers were. Often, the outline of the old numbers can be seen. Otherwise, if you can get a VIN number...

Found another ex-GO A2 which is now converted to a luxury coach and few small a/c rooftop. The builders plate and parts of the interior are gone, but the dashboard and exterior marker lights still remains.

Although the dashboard I can tell it has a hole which someone created in order to hold their transfer puncher.

For that YRP C3 it was there 2 days ago, yes it was an ex-1531 which still left the number marking on the top corner on driver side.

Here are a few ex-GO units in the Niagara Falls area, taken today in the Falls.

The Chariots of Fire bus (doing business as Fall for Niagara) is seen at the Skylon Tower. Chariots has three ex-GO buses numbered 3087, 3090 and 3093, one of which operated briefly in the Toronto area for PWT.

The ex-GO Orion V buses 2001 and 2002 are seen at the Niagara Bus Wash, located off of Stanley Road south in the Industrial Park. This is the same company that has bought a lot of ex-GO buses and resold them to the Marriott Hotels, Embassy Suites, Niagara Express and Magnificent Tours.

Nices shots Kevin! I guess we know for sure which GO V's were recently retired :P

Here's a question that's been bugging me...

Varous sources indicate that GO 1301 and 1303 went on to Vaughan Transit, York Regional Transit and later Can-Ar where they are today. Some others state that all of 1300-1305 were acquired.

Can someone set the record straight? And if 1300-1305 were all indeed acquired, whatever became of the others?

Heh! Translink in Vancouver should snap some of those up to add them to their Orion V Suburban fleet. Other than having totally different interior colors, the Ex-GO units have similar specs to the Translink units. Nice Photos!

It would be nice, but Translink has enough suburbans on their fleet throughout the whole day. Besides, the hard back board seats needs to be install as vandelism comes.

So why did Go retire the Orion V`s for? They were young when they retired.

They were set to receive new buses, and so the batches of 1600-1609 & 2000-2002 were retired.

And as mention, it's because the funding keeps coming, so they are not planning to keep anymore old buses on the road. Those Orion V will be replace with D4500 and to standarize the fleet.

Here's some retro ex GO...

GO 1938, 1925 and 1934 (now Brampton Transit 9179, 9176 & 9177) pictured retired at the Clark Garage in October 2003. All (plus 9178/9180) were sold for scrap in 2005.

What did Brampton use them for? Which routes?

What did Brampton use them for? Which routes?

Initially they ran on the 77 Hwy 7 (which was nice!) and sometimes the 5 Bovaird (when it was fairly new).

The single exit door was somewhat restricting, so later they were run on lower-ridership routes such as the 10/20/30 Industrials, the 22, etc.

I've recently put up a short writeup in the Wiki page on them.

They also ran on the Steeles and Wonderland routes as well

John thinks you should post them....

After further reviewing the photos, I'm not so sure it was route 14. But it was in service. Anyone with a 2003 map will be able to determine what route it was on. The bus is seen southbound on Chrysler Drive at Queen Street.

Route 30. Looks like you were at A&W?

I rode them every so often back in the day, they were nice buses to get.

Of course it was kind of a waste to get one on the 22 and be the only one on it...

Spotted an ex-GO Transit Can-Ar 16XX downtown around 12 noon during my lunch break making a turn onto Elizabeth Street from northbound University. Didn't catch the unit number, noticed it had been painted white where it was previously green. Also noticed that it retained the Luminator Horizon sign, the exposure that I saw was Port Elgin. I would of followed it to the terminal if I wasn't tight on time.

Also yesterday around 18:30 spotted Can-Ar 1607 broken down eastbound on Triton Road between Brimley Road and Borough Drive. Safety triangles were used and the hatch was left open.

Currently, they are using their Charter coaches, but they are now using the ex-GO Prevost for their commuter run!
