What routes are best to find the Van Hools and the 2002 LFS buses?

2002 are long gone, oldest bus in operation seems to be L0605, 2006 Nova LFS.

For the Vanhool, they can be found on many local routes (routes 1 to 99), just avoid express and metrobus, you will not find them there

Every 40 footers (except the 2016 16xx Nova Hybrids) comes out of des Rocailles garage, so it can be assigned on any routes, since it's a "L"imited use bus, you will likely see it in operation during rush hour.

Quebec City Tramway - A Discussion on the Currently Proposed Project - January 2022

Quebec City is actively working towards building a state-of-the-art Tramway system through the city. It will operate from Le Gendre to D'Estimauville (West to East). The proposed line will have 28 stations, be 19.3km in length and feature a downtown underground tunnel of 2.1km, that will be home to two stations.

In this video conversation with David Bellerive, we discuss this exciting and important infrastructure and transit project, poised to transform commuting in Quebec City. Touching on the history of the first Tramway in the city that ran till the mid-1900s, the new system being designed, the choice of technology, the routing and location of stations and finally the stunning rolling stock that may ride the rails. This is your introduction and overview of the Quebec City Tramway.

Does this mean 2003-05 LFSes are all retired?

Well RTC proceeded to a major announcement today, by the end of 2021, some sector of the cities will be served by on request transit services.

The new service called Flexibus will be operated by Sprinter type vans by private contractors. So basicly the system will be on request transit that can be planned or on the spot, they promise that you will get pick up in 15 minutes or less. Service will be available to "virtual stops" or at real bus stops. Booking can be done via Mobile app, website or phone. Standard RTC fare applies. Note that you can travel within a zone but cannot travel with Flexibus to a zone not served by the service or to another Flexibus Zone

For 2021, service will be offered in Notre-Dame-Des-Laurentides, Saint-Émile, Lac Saint-Charles, Val-Bélair, Loretteville, Montmorency areas

Well Flexibus service will begin Monday March 6 2002, so here is the rundown for now

There will be three zones that will see service for start, more zones are expected to be added in the following years

Zone 1 : Val Bélair and Loretteville (Northwest)- Daily 6am to 11pm
Zone 2 : Wendake, Saint-Émile, Lac-Saint-Charles Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides (Northeast) : Weekdays 9am to 3pm then 6pm to 11pm, weekends 6am to 11pm
Zone 3 : Courville and Montmorencu (Beauport East) - Daily 6am to 11pm

Taxi COOP is the operators of the 9 Flexibus vans, you can ride those with any valid RTC fare, vans have OPUS reader but you cannot pay your fare cash when starting a journey on Flexibus. Also tickets bought on the RTC Nomade app are also valid.

I hope there will be none of that "residents only" bullshit like the taxibus services.

Boischatel dumped the RTC and its dial-a-bus gimmick in 2019. PLUmobile is now servicing the suburb with a free shuttle that runs continuously from 7AM to 11PM with connection at Chute-Montmorency (metrobus). A second shuttle is operating during peak period, starting at 5:30AM. Before COVID, ridership grew by 75% while the pricetag was slashed 350k$/year compared to RTC services .

After 6 years of operation as a Metrobus (ok, we just put articulated bus on it and did nothing else to justify it), RTC will improve the 3rd busiest route of the network, Metrobus 807

- Route change will happen between Nérée-Tremblay and de Villers, buses will use Quatre-Bourgeois boulevard instead of Chemin Sainte-Foy to avoid this often congested area. That also improves connections with the eXpress at Laval University.
- Some stops will be abolished others relocated
- 54 new generation shelters will be installed
- 20% more accessible stops
- More at stop information display

Something that has been overlooked: RTC will test out three LFSe+ starting in late 2022.

Article (in French): https://www.rtcquebec.ca/medias/communiques/le-rtc-accueillera-ses-premiers-autobus-100-electriques-des-2022

??????????????

Yeah, that was a hard decision. /s

Also, according to the 2022 budget ( https://cdn.rtcquebec.ca/sites/default/files/2021-12/Budget 2022_VF.pdf  ), it seems like the RTC plans to buy a singular hybrid artic, possibly to replace 0953 or 1065...

...speaking of 1065, is it safe to assume it's retired?

There was an article in Le Soleil about L'Ancienne Lorette RTC riders not being happy with the new fall schedule.

There is indeed significant service cuts that will be implemented. Route 80 was running with a 30 minutes headway but will now be every hour after 7pm in l'Ancienne-Lorette, half hour headway will be kept between Terminus Les Saules and Downtown. Route 79 is also seing cuts as fewer services weekdays will do the extended route to Belvédère

RTC's LFSe+ have been unveiled. Fleet numbers seem to be 2201 thru 2203.

Unveiled, but certainly not inaugurated. A one-year, empty-running test phase is programmed before commercial service.

Scalded cat fears cold water. They seem to want to avoid the Tecnobus Gulliver fiasco.

Yes, that was what I meant. I've corrected it.

In any case, I can't wait to ride one of them in 2024.

@Stalwart23 might be able to explain this: why has there been so many retirements for Artics and newer buses? Did something happen that I'm not aware of (besides the obvious "LFS bad" answer)?

Edit: I just saw L1013, one of the buses that were supposedly retired, in service. Something seems fishy.

The first agency in Québec to run double deckers on a continuous, regular basis is... Well, no you haven't guessed it right; it's PLUMobile, who has an Alexander Dennis Enviro500 numbered 88 servicing their most frequented routes since two weeks now.

With Unitours as their operator (who has been for the last two decades holding open-top double deckers for Old-Québec tourist routes), it seemed like the logical choice to provide for more capacity on the express routes from Beaupré to Quebec and Sainte-Foy.

Good luck to the drivers on getting a new contract as soon as possible... because not having any wayfinding tools besides a dinky little piece of cardboard in front of the bus is unbearable.
