8009 was on training today.

Also 8006 seems to like me:

Rush hour traffic held up 8010 a bit. A shot with the new Innovation Centre for Engineering under construction at the University of Alberta in the background.

Ever wonder how a double decker bus gets towed? I found out today. 8010 needed some assistance getting home:

It was Integra 24/7 Solutions to the rescue! Nice to see a Sherwood Park company being used. One of their red Dodge Ram pickups was accompanying it as well.

Bill Luke gave us a picture of Diamond Bus Lines owner Cecil Bradshaw and his new Prevost c. 1949. Have some others as well. Will put most in our on-line history. Interesting fact: bus service to Sherwood Park began in 1957, not 1965 as previously believed.

Some pics from today...

DSC02380.jpg

Something a little different... I didn't realize the decker's ran over the Walterdale Bridge. I actually thought any 414's would get routed via Saskatchewan Drive/ Scona Hill. This will be added to the "To Photograph" list.

Arriving at Bethel. Note the left lane appears to be for buses that are waiting to enter service.

DSC02415.jpg

This is unlikely to ever be noticed by a person at street level as the sign scrolls... but for a brief moment as captured in this still image the sign appears to read "451 B.S Haven".

Route 443A... I'll leave the bus on the 443B for T6H-5307N to post as he spotted in originally.

I do enjoy the A and B branches. Something a little different.

425.

Quite a different feel to Bethel than ETS transit centers. It is a massive terminal but I'm impressed that I believe most, if not all bays are in use. Tactile warning strips along curbs too. I don't know why that hasn't been used in many other terminals I've experienced. Seems to be a different layout concept too vs. the typical sets ups where, in general, buses, as an example, facing north depart north and buses facing south depart south. If that were the case one would expect to find the commuter routes together on one side. Instead, the 411 and the 414 are across from each other, and as each route is the primary route to Downtown and the U of A, they actually have a massive bus bay. I'd say 150' long with 3 bus stop signs for each route. You could easily fit a pair of artics, and quite possibly 3 highway coaches in each bay.

Beats the hell out of the tiny bay 401's and 404's shared at Wye Road!
