D40LF
This past Saturday I took the ferry from Cape Vincent, NY to Hornes Point, Ontario (located on Wolfe Island). This had me thinking. How many ferries out there operate between Canada and the US. I doubt the ferry I rode is the only one, but I'm sure it is the smallest, capactiy is 7 cars. Will post a photo later. IRT_BMT_IND
There's the CAT ferry between Maine and Nova Scotia, and passenger ferries between Washington and Vancouver island. I'm sure that there are more. There's also service from Canada to France (St. Pierre and Miquelon)
MaT
There's also the Columbus that goes between Toronto, Windsor and Chicago.
Mike
There's also the Columbus that goes between Toronto, Windsor and Chicago.Do you have a link for this service? It seems to me that a ferry (or boat) from Toronto to Chicago would be much slower than driving.
MaT
I just looked it up and it's not being continued. It says right at the top of the 2nd link. Would have been nice to see her in Windsor again, it's a pretty big ship like the Chi-Cheemaun. http://www.greatlakescruising.com/columbus/deck-plans.php http://www.greatlakescruising.com/columbus/itineraries.php It went from Toronto, to Windsor and Chicago in 11 days. Just a cruise.
Orion9131
The Victoria Clipper between Seattle, and Vancouver(or was it Victoria?) Either way it is a fast ferry
urbanfan89
Washington State Ferry operates service between Sidney (north of Victoria) and Bellingham (midway between Vancouver and Seattle). The Alaska State has ferries between Bellingham and Alaska, and has a stopover in Prince Rupert. A private ferry company runs between Port Angeles, on the north side of the Olympic peninsula, and Victoria. It caters mostly to tourists, and every January is out of service. 74humper
I just looked it up and it's not being continued. It says right at the top of the 2nd link. Just a cruise. MV Columbus was/is a luxury cruise ship marketed to wealthy German tourists. It used to stop in Parry Sound 2 - 3 times a year where the locals would fleece the tourists with "Real Canadian Souviniers" made in China?? I believe that it is considerably larger than the ferry Chi Cheeman. R. McConnell
There's the CAT ferry between Maine and Nova Scotia, I took the CAT back in 2000. Very nice experience -- it was quick and comfortable, and my family was able to bring our car aboard. We bought a "CAT" mug from the gift shop as a souvenir.
