Today's Sightings

Recommended Posts

RTL 21818 drove by Atwater around 9:45 today. It had passengers. Maybe a charter?

I took 39-141 on the 90-W at 17:51.

36-901, 902, and 903 all seen active on the 36 over the course of yesterday and today. I thought that these vehicles were leased demonstrators and were due to be returned. Does anyone have news on the outcome of these buses?

The three electric buses and charging equipment will continue to undergo testing until spring 2020. Furthermore, from now until the project’s completion, the 36 Monk line will be served only by electric buses thanks to the purchase of four additional buses.

I saw 26-044 on the 203 at Inglewood/Douglas-Shand at around 7:40-45 am. Is it possibly a LaSalle extra? It was tracking on LaSalle routes in the afternoon.

I rode 28-130 on the 485 this afternoon. It was a accessibility violation.

24-256 is back in service on the 496

31-024, which is not tracking, is currently on the route 92, as run 18-19.

Caught 79-501 on the green line today. The fan stopped (and later came back) in the middle of Atwater station and there were some door troubles.

2020-01-10

Caught 29-087 and then 29-148 on the 107.

Observation 1: No artics out today... the STM seems to be very cautious these days -- freezing rain is on the menu tonight...

Observation 2: Lots of SD buses are not trackable.

---

24-297 was ET near Namur this noon, later it tracked on the 160.
37-001 was on the 124.
37-051 was on the 128, FR rear.
37-068 was on the 100.
37-046 and 31-106 were on the 171.
31-041 and 31-148 were on the 121.
24-296, 25-210, 29-011, 29-041 and 29-070 were on the 179.

It seems like the STM will order some electric articulated buses by 2023. Will they order some articulated hybrids first?

SmartSelect_20200111-154426_Twitter.jpg

Unlikely since the oldest articulated are from 2009, wich will be replaced around 2025, wich is after the first articulated electric buses.

And for now I don't think there is any plan to expand the articulated bus network, especially with 300 buses on the way this year.

All artic routes today had 40 footers indeed. I saw these...

139: 24-202, 24-235, 24-265, 28-120, 30-201, 31-034
193: 22-400, 24-268
67: 22-410, 24-267, 24-270, 31-134, 31-142, 31-145, 30-206
80: 24-250,28-107, 37-072

24-239 was on the 141.

Legendre's 31-121 was also on the 141.

24-240 was on the 81. It has a darker blue stripe on the rear hatch.

Mont Royal's 25-224 was on the 55. Has a white driver's vent. Got on it.

LaSalle's (?) 25-216 was broken down on Beaubien near Iberville this evening. The reason for the question mark is, did LaSalle send all their 25s to St. Denis when they re-opened?

25-219 was on the 18.

Yesterday in the morning the RTL had articulated buses on the 45, however these were most likely changed off as day turned into night. Looking out my window, the south shore does not seem so badly hit.

Today was very poor for service reliability this morning at the RTL. A collision caused the closure of the new Champlain Bridge for over an hour this morning direction Montreal. I was replacing a friend at work today so I had the joy of driving C2-0210 on the 144. From Panama to Bonaventure via the JC bridge (and Metro Longueuil - decided to do the passengers a solid), it took just over 1.5 hours. Of course I had school extra 670 after this. Some of the poor students waited out in the cold for over 40 minutes due to the delay and detour. I felt bad but people need to learn to dress to conditions. Finally, I would like to state that this bus had no turbo and it was pathetically slow.

IIRC these electric buses will be used on the SRB Pie-IX, as per this article from La Presse... https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/grand-montreal/201911/19/01-5250420-boulevard-pie-ix-66-millions-pour-20-bus-articules-electriques.php

------

Caught 27-514 on the 107 around 11am. It smelled very strongly of exhaust fume inside.

Caught 27-508 on the 107 in the evening.

Mont Royal's 30-091 was on the 41 today.

Mont Royal buses end up at LaSalle as usual; 25-202 on the 211 and their 25-243 on the 90.

31-132 was on the 140 with the bike rack. Don't these normally get uninstalled for winter?

25-230 was on the 144. Unsure if this bus still belongs to Mont Royal still.

According to what's been discussed on this board, Legendre should also get hybrid this year. I observed that buses are initially active at SL and end up at LS, if I were to take a guess I'd say SL is burning in the buses for LS.

----

Caught 26-015 on the 129 this PM.

26-002, 31-121 (w/AC), and 29-066 were also on the 129.

36-025 was on the 97. Since when MR got these buses back?

Finally, spotted 28-118 and 29-021 on the 92, the latter is not tracking and is still indicated at AN.

If it was going east, then yes it's a LaSalle extra on this run (until tripID 213291895).

Since a few days before the reopening of St-Denis.

- - -

38-096 was on the 201 with no rear exterior fleet number.

30-005 was on the 202 while 30-020 and 39-014 were on the 174.

I took 29-048 on the 66. Some seats in the back had blue vinyl bottoms.
