Today's Sightings

Recommended Posts

I caught 36-901 on the 36 this morning. It appeared to be the only LFSe that was out at the time. I only saw standard buses going in the other direction.

I also noticed several Anjou buses running in Frontenac territory today: 27-536 and 28-062 were on the 24, and 28-023 was on the 168.

I don't think so. I only talked to an older woman who was in line for the bus. Was it the 9:52 departure?

To throw in some sightings,

22-208, 22-221, and 22-263 were on the 211 yesterday. I caught 22-208.

I was there in late afternoon, I went off the run-number which was the same when I was there around 16:00. The bus had just came out of the garage.

Interesting, that bus was on the Museum day shuttle. I got on it because I knew it had AC and let the suckers get on 31-152. :D

  • 28-051 (LS)
  • 37-005 (SN)
  • 36-037 (MR)
  • 31-152 (FR)
  • 31-120 (LE)
  • 31-140 (LE)
  • 31-122 (LE)
  • 29-137 (LS)
  • 31-018 (SD)
  • 31-205 (LE)

Today, Stinson's 22-304 was on the 92 this morning.

I'm pretty sure 28-023 hasn't been with Lasalle for years (I'd assumed it was at Anjou). From my observations, Lasalle typically has 28-008-017, 020-021,024,026-054, 056, 061, 064, 066-067.

-----

27-510 and 27-513 were on the 24 today.

26-076 was also on the 24. It has an extra set of fleet numbers on it's rear window (like on the 29-072+ buses).

28-128 was on the 435, and 37-005 was on the 165 right behind it on St. Mathieu at Sherbrooke around 16:45.

Thanks for the clarification. 26-076 is also special in another way as it is one of 4 Frontenac buses used to test the departure warning feature on the 74 and 715.

LaSalle's 28-021 seen as En Transit near Stinson garage.

Stinson's 29-090 as En Transit on Van Horne this morning.

22-248 was on the 124 also with a white driver's vent.

24-299 was training on the 90 EB around 10:00 at St. Jacques/Elmhurst. What was strange is that all the runs scheduled around that time were late night runs, so either it was running as an extra or it was a camera violation.

I thought the limit was 11:00pm. I've seen many Stinson 21s and 22s stay past 10pm easily. Perhaps it will end it's run at Vendome or Atwater then go back to the garage immediately.

-

St. Denis (or Anjou?) 29-018 was on the 104.

St. Denis 29-070 was on the 37, then it became the 105. This might have been that run that usually has hybrids Gerbil refers to.

St. Laurent's 22-337 was on the 64. A bus from the garage that used to serve this route for many years!

Stinson's 22-240 was on the 213 this afternoon. Has a really small rear Priorite sign.

33-814 was on the 470 with the Marie Yvonne Paint wrap. 31-026 also has it.

Stinson's 29-090 was on the 161 tonight.

The 90 really doesn't come often enough going eastbound during PM rush. 28-037 left over 10 people behind in front of the Super C on Saint Jacques (Saint Jacques/ No. 6910) while it was doing the 16:18 departure because it was full. It was running on time and the previous bus was not canceled. Considering how many more stops there were before the bus reached Vendome (where most people get off), I'm sure plenty more people were left behind. It's always packed at this time, yet it comes more often on Saturdays and Sundays, when the buses aren't even close to full. (Every 12-15 minutes on Saturdays, and every 14-20 minutes on Sundays compared to 20-21 minutes on weekdays).

I really don't understand why they do not run a ligne courte 90X between say Elmhurst and Vendome. The riders need to complain more. After decades of complaints, the west island finally has some semblance of decent transit service!

It was actually 10am that I saw it. I just know that the 9:47 departure is operated by 107-44, which does the last 107 trip of the night, the 9:57 departure is 108-46, which is out until around 1am on the 108, and the 10:07 departure is 104-41, which is out until after 1am on the 104. I know that I shouldn't have seen a 2004 at that time.

Also, I think it might be safe to say 29-018 is a Lasalle bus. It's been operating around there since the fall along with several other random 2009s (001,002,005,011,013,014,026, that I know of).

Yeah, that wouldn't be a bad idea. I know they do have a shortened version starting at St. Jacques/St. Pierre during AM rush. One of the biggest problems is that the STM tries too hard to make the line fit the mould of their 10 minutes max network. The buses heading eastbound in the late morning and westbound in the evening (particularly after 20:00) are usually empty, yet it  comes every 10 minutes. It would be far better to have it come every 10 minutes eastbound in the afternoon when such a frequency would be justified.

22-300 was on the 105. It looks absolutely horrible: the front has a huge rust stain (it's leaked from below the windshield), the front passenger side has a taped up patch, and the hub caps are very dark (near black). In contrast, 22-215 was also on the 105, and it was spotless despite having an original front end with the Nova Bus logo.

22-353 was on the 201, and then later appeared on the 200. It has a rear panel from a 27-5XX to 28-XXX bus (with the vents).

31-120 was on the 460, so I assume it's back at Legendre.

LaSalle does extras on the 460

They do most board periods, but according to the GTFS (I used it to make a document to search the runs), all garages but Lasalle and Frontenac do 460 extras this board period.

--

Today:

I caught 28-131 on the 105 and it smelled strongly of diesel fumes inside.

29-102 was on the 66.

And that bus wasn't changed off? :o

Stinson or LaSalle (?) 28-130 was on the 24 this evening.

Legendre's 22-379 was parked outside Frontenac.

29-070 was on the 51 yesterday departing Montreal Ouest around 16:10, so not an extra. It was running out of Stinson previously. It's been a long time since I've seen one of those 2009s on the 51, since Mont Royal's were displaced by the hybrids.

Mont Royal's 30-078 was on the 105 around 9:00 this morning.

32-014 was on the 24 today with a Sapporo wrap.

I appreciate your explanations as I haven't taken the 90 in years. The STM cannot claim ignorance as their SCAD counters must show management the true ridership statistics of the line. You do not need to work in transit to understand that the "do nothing" approach is the cheapest and likely preferred route management system at STM. You cannot expect the people working at CCA (bus control centre) to be proactive on the weekend. And as usual, transit systems always try to get away with running as little service as possible. I would agree that certain heavy routes deserve their 10 min max designation, but certain routes as you have mentioned above serve no purpose other than to inflate their stats for marketing purposes. There are other routes out there that run empty with 20 min midday headways. 53 St-Laurent is an excellent example. The only reason I can think of why it runs so frequent is because it is the cushion for CT Legendre employees to get to their relief points.

The STM needs to start thinking outside the box and start offering short turns (with a different route designation, if necessary) to offer the most service to the greatest number of riders.
