Yep. 1210 burned to a crisp on highway 50 while deadheading back to the garage. It's a write off.

STO has announced they are pulling all of their 12 and 13 Artics (which represents 45 buses) from service until further notice as this incident is the second of this type resulting in a write off of a bus in less than a year (1318 combusted spontaneously on the Rapibus last june). Nova is going to come down and inspect all of those units and they will only be returned to service once they have been OK'd by Nova.

STO mechanics have been on overtime strike since sunday evening.

That, along with a bunch of artics being grounded is causing tons and tons of trip cancellations which IMO are being poorly communicated. The only real indicator that a trip is cancelled is the list on the website, but that list isn't accurate and there is no information in Transit App alerts directing users to check the list. The only information in Transit App is an alert saying to check Twitter because of "Network impacts". Extremely vague. Just yesterday, the bus I was intending to take home was on the cancellation list and despite that, it turned up, and the STO never tweeted about it being re-instated as they did for other trips...

Announcements and Events

The eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 174 between Blair Road and Montreal Road will close for Stage 2 LRT work starting at 8 pm on Friday, May 6. The closure will remain in place until 6:30 am Monday, May 9. Detour signage will be in place while the closure is in place.

The closure will facilitate the demolition of the Blair Transitway Bridge to make room to connect the Stage 2 LRT Blair Median Rail Bridge to Blair Station. The Transitway was closed earlier this year in preparation for the demolition.

The following traffic plan will be in effect during the closure:

• Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Blair Road to Ogilvie Road to Montreal Road OR 174 on-ramp.
• Westbound traffic will be detoured to Montreal Road to Ogilvie Road to Blair Road OR 174 on-ramp.

The Stage 2 O-Train East extension will run in the median of Highway 174, on a guideway bridge that is being constructed to connect the rail line from the existing Blair Station to the new line.

Saw that tweet and was going to edit my post to account for that one too. From the replies, it is Sixth and St. Bernard on the Route 93 in Blossom Park. Used to live near the area around a decade ago. 

A second close call especially with how I did read about how Merivale Road near the mall will be closed for several days due to downed hydro lines with cars trapped underneath. Seeing the damage along that corridor and needing to replace all those hydro poles will take time especially with the additional resources being requested from neighbouring utility companies that have staff available to assist.

Damage was already done when they botched the opening, hence when the now uncommon delays or hiccups occur, the punchline to a joke of a system is always said. Ottawa's LRT has a tarnished image which will remain with the system for the foreseeable future, especially if they botch the upcoming expansions featuring expanded Line 1 and 2 and new lines 3 and 4.

That would be correct. Especially since the train is stalled which one of the overhead pantographs is also down.

There was a report by someone on-board that the train got stuck between Lees and UOttawa Stations requiring assistance to safely evacuate the train and make sure that there was no live wires. Around 11 PM is when the train got stalled.
