The Ride cycling event September 9, 2018 Route 54, 61, 62, 87, 94, 95, 97

Please be advised that The Ride cycling event will take place from 7am to 4pm on Sunday, September 9 2018. Routes 54, 61, 62, 87, 94, 95 and 97 will be detoured due to the closure of Sir John A Macdonald Parkway (westbound) between Booth and Carling. Please allow a few extra minutes for your travel.

Sunday Bike days detour in effect 7-4pm

  • Route 54 (both direction): Cancelled from 7am to 11am

DETOUR: Preston Street Closure (Carling to Adeline)Route 85

From 7am on Saturday, September 15 until 6pm on Thursday, September 20 2018, Routes 85 will be detoured due to the Preston Street closure  between Carling and Adeline. Please allow a few extra minutes for your travel.

Detour routing

  • Route 85 Lees will serve Carling, Booth, Norman, Rochester, Beech and Preston
  • Route 85 Bayshore will serve Preston, Pamilla, Rochester and Carling

There's footage online of the tornado both in Dunrobin and Gatineau, and preliminary estimates rate it at an EF-2 intensity.  I work in Kanata and visibility was very poor at the time, as I was looking right at the wall cloud and I didn't see the funnel, though it turns out that this tornado apparently did not have a visible funnel cloud.  There was also extensive damage in the Hunt Club/Greenbank area, but that was likely caused by a microburst.

The latest news is that at least two tornadoes struck the National Capital Region yesterday: an EF-3 that carved a 40-km-long path from Dunrobin to Gatineau, and an EF-2 that struck the Arlington Woods area, causing major damage to the Hydro One Merivale substation and leaving much of Ottawa's west end in the dark.  Mayor Jim Watson said that it could take days to restore power to the hardest hit parts of the city.

From 7 am on Saturday, September 29 until 9 pm on Sunday, September 30 2018, Routes 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 18 will be detoured due to the Rideau Street closure between Dalhousie and Sussex. During the closure, late-night Transitway service (between 1 am and 4 am) on Routes 61, 85, 95 and 97 will continue to serve Mackenzie King Bridge as it does during the day (instead of Rideau Street). Please allow yourself extra time for your travel.

222 Albert/Bay: From Highway 417, exit Boundary, right Boundary, left Piperville, serve Carlsbad Springs Community Centre parking lot, right Piperville, left Boundary, left Russell, left Leitrim, right Anderson to regular route.

222 Vars: From Highway 417, exit Anderson, right Anderson, left Leitrim, right Russell, right Boundary, right Piperville, serve Carlsbad Springs Community Centre parking lot, right Piperville, right Boundary to regular route.

9 RUN RUN DETOUR - EFFECTIVE: OCTOBER 13th

  • 61 Stittsville: From Stittsville Main, left Abbott Street East, right Shea, right into Community Centre to end of route.
  • 61 St-Laurent: From Community Centre, left Shea, left Abbott Street East, right Stittsville Main to regular route.
  • 162 Stittsville: From West Ridge, left Ballyboy, right Bert G. Argue, left West Ridge to regular route.

PRETORIA BRIDGE CLOSURE - EFFECTIVE: OCTOBER 14th

  • 5 Rideau: From Main, right Greenfield, right Hwy 417 westbound on-ramp, merge Hwy 417 westbound, exit Metcalfe, right Metcalfe, right Argyle, left Elgin to regular route.
  • 5 Billings Bridge: From Elgin, right Queen Elizabeth, right Pretoria, right Metcalfe, right Hwy 417 eastbound, merge Hwy 417 eastbound, exit Lees, right Lees, left Main to regular route.

ST-LAURENT STATION CLOSURE - EFFECTIVE: OCTOBER 14th

Due to the closure of St-Laurent Station between 2:00am and 4:00am, routes 61, 95, and 104 will bypass the station in both directions.

  • 61 St-Laurent: Buses will terminate at stop #6698 (St-Laurent/Ogilvie).
  • 61 Terry Fox: Buses will start at stop #1049 (St-Laurent/Lemieux).
  • 95 Trim: From Highway 417, buses will travel via St-Laurent, Ogilvie, Blair, and Blair Station to its regular route. It will also serve stop #6698 (St-Laurent/Ogilvie).
  • 95 Cambrian: From Blair Station, buses will travel via Blair, Ogilvie, and St-Laurent to Highway 417 westbound and its regular route. It will also serve stop #1049 (St-Laurent/Lemieux).
  • 104 Place d'Orléans: From Highway 417, buses will travel via St-Laurent, Ogilvie, Blair, and Blair Station to its regular route. It will also serve stop #6698 (St-Laurent/Ogilvie).
