STO bus spottings

1,647 posts in this topic

Bonjour!

Had a bit of time on my hands today so here goes. Got to ride 7901 (felt good to ride a fishie again) on the "45". Spotted 7757 Northbound on Portage bridge displaying "Eleve au Volant" student driver. 8401 on "45 Galleries Aylmer" 8785 and 8413 spotted in service on Portage street in Hull. Paint peeling off front doorside rim of 8413, can see the red OC paint. 8805 has a red OC rim driverside rear, same as 8413..... peeling paint. Casino bus 0606 on "67 Les Promenade", saw 0710-0711-0007-0011- (0012 "98 Buckingham")-9003-04-9011 and a few other LFS. Original STO buses (No LED lights, still blue stripe) spotted are 9118-9120-9127-9205.

A bien-tot

Cheers

Don't know if anyone saw it yet, but STO 0602 has a really nice green full wrap with race horses on it for Hippodrome d'Aylmer.

0602 has had that wrap for at least a year (when I started paying attention).

I had it on the 96, once. It does NOT look right in Buckingham. Same for 0328 :P

Strange I never saw the green wrap before, but that's the first time I get pics of 0602 on the other hand. As for 0328's Energie wrap, that I know was been on for a longtime. It's all peeling off on certain parts of the bus.

Is just me or has anyone else noticed, the STO & OC have gone "Bus wrap"crazy? I mean years ago it was hard to find a STO or OC bus with a wrap after the big fad in the late 80' early 90's OC(not sure about the STO) had quite a few 'Bus wraps and those where actually done differently(in how they where applied to the bus then they are now)', then suddenly "PUFF" most where gone and you didn't se that many. Trure the Ikaruses had the rear window done up in Speedy Glass or something like that and the Orion V's had CHEZ 106 and another ione(slips my mind at the moment.

Now your seing Rear ads, just ads on the top driver side, 1/4 ads ie Samsung and full ads.

Now grant you I'nm not sure at what the cost are to the advertiser or what the terms are of the contract they have with OC & STO but I have a feekling its $$$$$ but then again it expose. Get your message out to the masses.

True it might cost you $$$ to advertise like that but your product gets way more exposer and the return in most cases is quite profitable.

TOM :P

Yeah, I've seen a lot of LFS have TAG (station, not spray) ads plastered all over the driver's side. I've also been seeing side ads on several buses, as well.

BTW, what're the rear ads with the heart on them (eg, 0612) for?

If anyone wants to see lot's of old OC Transpo bus wraps from the 90's, there's a bunch of them in my vintage Ottawa bus pictures section on my Ottawa site located in this section:

Just saw 0402 on the 96 in Buckingham with the hot-air balloon festival ads.

STO 0413 has a full driver side wrap for La Radio Anti-Stress 97.1 FM.

Doesn't 0413 have a rear wrap for a different ad, as well?

0412 also has a side & rear wrap (both different ads).

BTW, WTF is so anti-stress about 97.1? They play the type of music that makes me throw the radio across the room - Oh, I see...

0412 had the TVA-CHOT wrap in the driver's side (with the picture of the news anchor) as well as the TAG-FM wrap in the back. 0413 also has a wrap for TQS in the rear in addition to the Couleur FM wrap. The TQS wrap was previously red now it is blue and also had the picture of anchor Jean-Luc Mongrain in addition to the regional newscast anchor who was also in the older wrap (while Mongrain was not). All wraps as well as those windows ads of TAG-FM are from stations owned by the same company, Radio Nord Communications.

Saw several '88 Classics.

Odd sighting of the day: STO RTS on the super-2 part of the 50. Don't know what the hell he was doing there.

So, I ended up sleeping like a real baby last night (Went to bed at 11, woke up at 2 and was tossing and turning for the rest of the night), so I might get some bus fanning done this morning.

I didn't see the rear.
Apparently, you did at one point :http://ottawabuspage.fotopic.net/p34058512.htmlOr is that not your pic/site?

Edit: FFS!

Is it just me or does STO seem to have a hard time keeping to their schedules, lately? Locked up my bike just in time to see the ass-ends of both the 96(0001) and the 98(9701) (Hey, it is the sitings thread), despite being five minutes early. I know it's not just my time, because my watch is set to the minute on the cocks that the drivers have on the bus.

Now the Couleur FM wrap ad is white, while the TQS ad is blue as opposed to red.

So, I should be able to get some pics up tonight. Will probably only be 94-95 Classics and LFSs, though, as it is a Saturday.
