I went by the DRT West garage this afternoon and have some updates: 8027 has been stripped (possibly by MTB) and retired. I guess it's frame could not be repaired when at MTB last month. 8026, 8028-29 have the "We support our troops" stickers on them so I am guessing the will be hitting the road next month as High School Specials.

Also 8040, 8043 have been officially retired.

Does anyone know what will happen with 8121, 8123?

I could swear R-1 Simcoe has been a fully accessible route since July.

Anyway Classics 8118-20 have a sheet of plastic or whatever it is covering the back of the bus where the window would be, much like the Orion I's.

21??? I Thought it was 15 D40LF and High Floor With Lift

Yes. Transit Windsor backed out of the deal so DRT took the 6 buses they ordered.

I have no idea when the High Floor is suppost to arrive, or where it's coming from. Anyone know?

Screw the D40LFs! :P

Any more info on the high floor lifts? Are they Vs or Classics and which system is it coming from and which year?

It's one bus, and while I'm not sure, I'd be stunned if it were anything but a V.

The 15 D40LF and a used solo HF lift will be coming by the winter.

All I know is that it will be a 1996/97 Orion V

For a second there, I thought you meant DRT was going to purchase a "used" Solo! LOL. As in Champion Solo!

I was wondering the same thing. :-)

Apperently 8321-8322 will be getting the same fabric inserts that are used in the New Flyers. It would also be nice if they got new destination signs.

Have you ever noticed that the Seats right in front of the wheel well have limited leg room on the VI's

Anything on the 1999 LFS' I think those buses were a waste of money not only are they a peice of junk but they are never used in Oshawa, but in whitby I see 8180 a lot I see Whitby knows what to do with buses they receive

and Oshawa ive only see them 3 times and gotten them 2 out of thoses 3 times when I last went over there 8176 was parked in the beack beside 8118 in full DRT colours and 8174 or 8174 with just whit a few buses over. I say if Oshawa isn't using them give them to Whitby or Ajax.

Yes they are also higher.

I have only ever seen two of Oshawas on the road (8174, and 8177). I think they might get some use out of them as High School Specials. In whitby I have seen only 8179 and 8180. getting regular use. The front door on 8180 SLAMS open, it almost scared me half to death :P .

lol is 8174 in DRT livery I've only seen 8175 and 8177 in Oshawa which one is the best one. I've heard 8175 is the worst

Wow I sure hope they reconsider that! The upholstery in the New Flyers would not match the blue frames. If they really wanted to go to the VR inserts, they should get them upholstered in what OTC used to have. On the note of upholstery, I hope DRT West does something about theirs. the reupholstering of seats in Ajax and Pickering has been quite sloppy for a long time. Examples are the ex. Pickering Vs. They come back from refurb in new livery, but retained the sloppy, mismatched interior. If DRT has the time and money, I'd suggest:

reupholstering the 1999 LFSes, VIs, all Vs with American Seating 6468s seats (minus the ex. RGRTA ones and those close to retirement), and 8066 with the 'OTC' upholstery. For any bench seated or American Seating 6466 buses, reupholster them in blue vinyl. All new buses will continue to get the green upholstery.

This way DRT would have only need three types of upholstery in stock as opposed to the around ten that is needed today if they wished to keep the interior of their buses looking professional.

I agree. I hope they are doing something with the seats in 8015 since that bus is the worst for mix match seats.

They don't even need money, just a little time. I believe The seats from retired DRT East 8117, 8124, and 8122 should have been sent down to DRT West to be used in the ex. Pickering V's. And the blue bottoms and grey backs from retired ex Pickering Orion I's should have been used in 8024, 8025 (to replace the floral type pattern seat inserts) I am glad the ex. PAT buses seats are doing so well (only a few have needed to be replaced)

Sightings at the DRT Ajax garage @ 1:00

-Flag bus 8972 left the garage on a tow truck.

-8029 was driving around the garage signed up as High School Special.

-8121 was missing from the yard. Back to Oshawa? but that would make no sense. May have been on the hoist since 8123 was up there last a couple Thursdays ago.
