Looks like a bit of a bus refurbishment on the panels. Not sure how much longer they will keep the 04s for since the replacements are supposed to arrive by March 31, 2018 (eligibility for funding on public transit).

EDIT: I can confirm I just boarded 67404 today (8B-NB Crosstown) and the bus is completely refurbished with the new bus smell. Along with new seat and flooring on the inside.

Back in Feb when I was riding with one of my drivers on the 4, he told me there were some 04s that were taken out of service and put in storage. I remember him telling me this was one of them. I have a hunch that we may start seeing more of these being finished and hitting the road, and then any of the ones that are on the road currently might possibly be done after this. My driver friends don't really have information on the rebuild programme though. In fact, 67404 showing up all nice and shiny was news even to them. I think this thing's a beauty though.

When I took a quick glance through the windshield, it appeared to me that they reupholstered the original Innovator 850 seats like was done on the 06 to 09s. If you say there's new seats, what kind are they? I'd be impressed that they put the same seats as the Novas have in them.

One of the new 2020 NovaBus LFS, just arrived Monday! Not sure how many we are getting this time around, right now we have 2, 2001/2002 with rumour that we're getting 4 more but I can't be sure! Got a

Cimon8000 I got to drive this bus today for training. Drives very very nice!! Very smooth and pretty quick pick up. Taken in the garage before we left for the day.

Just got back from the Barrie Fair shuttle with a couple friends. 1703 was our bus. Unlike the 2012 and 2013 routes where the bus took Essa Road to 20th Sideroad, this year because of the closure at A

Another 04's been rebuilt! I just spotted 67604 running Route 1 today. Taken around 5:30PM, 8.31.2017.

This was one of the other 04s that was knocked out the last few years.

At least they are looking to try and hold some together. Those are two units so far.

EDIT: Can also confirm that 67604 is also refurbished and still has the new bus smell. Not sure if any more are on the list. Best to keep an eye out knowing the new exterior shells, the reflection and larger bus numbers.

Got to ride 67604 today and she runs like a beauty. Took her from Allandale to Downtown on my favourite Route 4 while I was at Illuminate Barrie with my Grampa.

It still had a bit of a new smell, and the interior looks beautiful. Apart from the new floor and a few new grab-irons (using a railroad term here), the seats are still original to the series, Innovator 850s most likely built at the old Otaco plant in Orillia, with new seat covers on them. The dash also looks brand new as well.

Right after we left Downtown to head back to Illuminate Barrie, 1720 showed up signed as ''SPECIAL''. Ever since I've heard of this bus I've been looking for it and it just showed up completely by chance, and as usual, I get dibs on the first photos of some of the new buses again. :3 <3

Thanks for the post.

So far in-service: 1701 to 1705 (highest unit spotted in-service). 1706 hasn't been put in-service yet. Still keeping a tight look any new units.

Some transit detours:

Monday October 2/17 at 7 AM to Wednesday October 5/17 at 7 PM:

Route 4: It will instead terminate at Royal Jubilee Drive and not service the Barrie South Go Station. Basically, having to layup and loop back via Royal Jubilee, Sun King Crescent, Majesty Boulevard and then back onto Prince William Way.

October 3/17 for approximately 3 weeks (sidewalk installation):

Route 5B Edgehill and 8B-NB Crosstown will NOT be servicing Barrie Medical Arts, 135 Wellington and Wellington Plaza

A temporary stop will be installed just before the construction zone.

Final comments:

I think the sidewalk is long overdue on Wellington especially with the stops existing for way longer. No safe way of crossing especially how uneven the terrain is.

If any of you watch the local Barrie news, they showed a report tonight where police from across the province were in town learning about buses and how they work. A couple 1700s were used for practical tests, but there was also a TTC 9000-series artic at the garage (y tf didn't I know about dis!) along with some green bus that I only saw the back end of, couldn't make it out.

Thanks Cimon. I didn't think they would also be using very old route codes (pre-2013) along with being pretty white.

still shocked more than 4 buses were even ordered myself

If it wasn't for the public transit infrastructure fund, they wouldn't be able to do more than 4 replacements. Especially the 04s really on their last legs with a few refurbished to keep them together. Knowing half the cost is covered by the federal government.
