I noticed that 62 is back on the road. I rode it today on the 16. I was wondering what had happened to it. I assumed that it was having it's wrap removed but it still has it on. Since it is still running I wonder why it was off the road. I am assuming that they have a contract with ONTERA to have it out for a certain amount of time.

Today I seen a plain white bus either a GM classic or MCI classic coming into Timmins . The back of the bus had TT on it and in the front window it has bus 86. I also heard that all the Orion VI buses are going to Eastway for Refurbishing.

I would assume all of the Orion VI's would be going at different times. Timmins could not afford to have 7 buses out of commission at the same time. They are only 7-8 years old, why are they going to Eastway?

Why is Timmins buying more used buses???? :P That is the silliest thing to do. We need to buy new buses. They may cost a bit more but they will last longer and that way we can standardize the fleet. I had thought that we were getting two additional Nova LFS units to replace the other two ex-GO buses that were retired recently.

I find our transit agency does things the hard way and makes moves that make entirely no sense whatsoever. As it is right now, most buses are out every day, there are few spares. Speaking of buses being out, I haven't seen 78 in a while.

The bus is Ex Quebec City 8337. It is a 1984 GM classic

I had a feeling it was from somewhere in Quebec because of the rear doors. North Bay received a huge batch of those (most, if not all are retired now) about 5 years ago from Quebec with the double wide rear exit door. I am assuming it will be with us a while, while the Orion VIs are out at Eastway.

From what I heard it's on loan for 2 - 3 months with an option to buy

From what I heard the bus is cheaper to buy than to rent for 6 months

That's intersting. I have always assumed that some of these companies provided loaners as a goodwill type thing while that company is making money off of working on that transit systems buses!!

Such has dealerships that provide shuttle services when people have their cars in for work.

I rode one of the old ex-GO Fishbowls to work this morning. I thought it was odd because I was under the assumption that they were all retired. I rode on 73 this morning and I thought I was imagining things (I do have a head cold that is clouding my memory and judgement), but sure enough it was 73. The destination sign was looking rough. The route number was very small and the route name looked like it was stuck in the middle of a transition, only part way through. The bus looks like it is in rough shape and should be retired soon.

They had to take one of the ex go fishbowls out because they are short on buses. Bus 63 and 75 are broken. Both buses had to be towed in this week. Bus 63 is suffering from a broken rear axle while bus 75 is suffering from engine failure

yes...there was one GM Classic which was at Eastway about a few weeks ago when it was the last time I was at Eastway to see what was there.

I'll see this week of any of those VI's from Timmins are there and I'll report back to see what ones I've found for ya.

They didn't go to Burlington... they went to Pembroke.

No we still got them they are on the road everyday. They are also in very rough shape.

I seem to be seeing 83 on the 16 everyday so far this week (and it is jam packed). With all the Orion VIs out and the one broken down I haven't seen too many of the remaining 3. I saw 62 today but haven't seen the others around much. I have rode 73 and 84 quite a bit this week (not that I mind). ;)
