DRT
That same or similar bus is feature on a music video by a band called the Saint Aliva Cartel. The song is called "Don't wanna wait forever". The music video can be viewed here: It's 8120, I even recognise the driver.
kitchenerlrt
Zellers and WalMart always have stupid commercials. For all of us still in school, that Staples "Back to School" one is a pretty stupid commercial . I saw Reitmans new commercial in french. There was STM's 15-008 Nova Classic.hahaha, that one's hilarious. those two guys are pretty funny.
Tranzit
A really annoying commercial is the one showing people in an office boardroom laughing hysterically and uncontrollably as they look at a co-worker who's munching on some snack food item or other (someone please remind me what it is?). For some odd reason, this ad is even repeated several times during a particular program. Why do they think we are supposed to laugh right along with them? As if... Ad writers should know better. The intelligent ones already understand that what may be "humourous" to some people can be just plain stupid to others, sometimes downright insulting, and even considered racist and intolerant (rightly or wrongly) by a marginal few. Tom1122
Here are two old commercials, ones I haven't seen in awhile. 1. The Stoffer's (not sure how it's spelled), commercial with the two old ladies bitching about the product saying it takes less than an hour to prepare, and don't change their point of view when the chicken is good. I thought (and still do) that the slogan should be "Stoffer's: Endorsed by old bitches everywhere!" 2. This commercial has been off the air for more than 10 years, but I still remember it. Long before the Burger King song, Burger King had toys in their kids meal of the characters from the Burger King Kids Club. They were water toys intended for the pool. The commercial featured a kid playing with the toys in a kiddie pool and the kid's mom would say, "Billy, lunch is ready!" Next shot was autumn, the kid was still playing with the toys in the pool, and the kid's mom says, "Time for school!" The commercial ended with the season being winter, and a lot of snow on the ground and the kid is still in the pool playing with the toys! The kid's mom was saying, "Billy, Billy." Gee, the toys make hypothermia fun! Maybe I can find it on youtube or something.
Cogeno
I saw a Foodland Ontario (or whatever it's called) commercial telling us to not "...put our potatoes in a fridge, but keep them in a cool, dark place".
Tom1122
I actually don't mind the following commercial. It's kind of funny though in a morbid way. SOmetimes, a public service announcement comes with two kids in a boat wearing lifejackets. There's a voiceover saying something along the lines of "You made them wear lifejackets, but you didn't wear one yourself. Good idea; they didn't need you anyway." And they zoom out and show a body floating in the water.
Cogeno
Anyone see the new MADD commercial? Basically it's in first person of a guy walking out of a cell, and then being backed into a corner by two guys (one being white, and one being the stereotypical black guy). The white guy starts licking his lips/blowing kisses, then "You have a lot to lose." appears on the screen. I laugh whenever I see that commercial. The white guy starts licking his lips/blowing kisses, then "You have a lot to lose." appears on the screen.I laugh whenever I see that commercial. An unlikely prison scenario, since drunk drivers would probably never be mixed in with the type of hardened criminal the ad portrays, never mind being forced to share the same cell with such stereotypically brutal and perverted nutcases. It's too bad that such so-called "public awareness" ads resort to this melodramatic, hollywood claptrap, because it virtually destroys their credibility. If they truly want to advocate better driving behaviour, there are far better ways to do it than this. For example, how about terminating convicted drunk drivers' licenses permanently and seizing their cars outright with no recourse. * * * * * Another stupid ad I've seen is one which promotes a certain brand of anti stomach-acid product which is made of a soft gel material. Next to the gel pill, it shows a hammer hitting and crushing the usual Tums-type calcium tablet, as if to say that because the Tums turns to powder, it is therefore somehow less effective than the gel. What crap! Who crushes such a calcium-type tablet anyway before taking it? Besides, Tums comes in flavours and is eaten like candy, so just because the hammer "makes a mess" of it on a table has absolutely no bearing as to how effective it will be in your stomach! vivablue5215
Anyone remembered those Chevrolet Cobalt commercials a few years ago (or still playing?), with this "Johnny" person? I find them funny, yet stupid.
Matt Demers
Anyone remembered those Chevrolet Cobalt commercials a few years ago (or still playing?), with this "Johnny" person? I find them funny, yet stupid. They were from last year I believe and they do not run them anymore. He always used to be the strict one who never played loud music or make out with his girlfriend in the car! I don't see how the last one helps sell the car based on features like the rest, but oh well. It got annoying fast and I'm glad they are off the air. Didn't they do these Johnny commercials for the HHR and Aveo too?
Tom1122
I hate the anti-drunk driving commercial with the crying baby where the end says that drunk drivers kill {number} people annually. Emily's mother was one of them. Perhaps people arrested for DUI should be made to watch that commercial for 30 minutes straight. Maybe if Lindsey Lohan had been made to watch it, she might not have been arrested for DUI again! An unlikely prison scenario, since drunk drivers would probably never be mixed in with the type of hardened criminal the ad portrays, never mind being forced to share the same cell with such stereotypically brutal and perverted nutcases. pccstreetcar4549
this might sound mean, but didn't it ever occur to anybody maybe that baby needs changing or something? i know what the message is but like seriously
Tranzit
There's another ridiculous ad for Vytorin which shows a series of food items alongside people made up and/or dressed up to resemble those food items as closely as possible, but beyond reason. One wonders how people are recruited to appear in such foolishness: "Say, buddy, we're doing an ad for, uh, a drug, where, uh, we want you to dress up like a real idiot and act like one, too. How about it? Um...we'll even pay you $100 an hour. No? Okay, 200. We can afford it. After all, we're raking in millions overcharging for our drugs. Hahaha!". ...or something like that. Then I'm sure these actors and actresses have some idea in their heads that they may eventually make it into bigger and better things. The reality is, however, that there aren't really that many famous actors who started out doing commercials--at least not as many as there used to be. Exceptions like Jody Foster, Jacklyn Smith, Tom Sellick, among others come to mind, of course.
Tom1122
I'm aware this thread has been dead for awhile, but I'm bringing it back. Some more stupid commercials I've seen: 1. The 92.5 Jack FM commercial with the older woman vacuuming while listening to the radio. The woman suddenly collapses, just as her daughter(?) comes down. The daughter simply changes the radio station to Jack FM and plays air guitar and starts dancing, seemingly unconcerned about her mother(?) who may need medical attention. 2. Commercials for Viagara and Cialis: With all the spam going around, do they NEED to advertise on TV?!?

If you look closely at the radio when she's changing the station it looks like the previous stations symbol/logo/sign (whatever you want to call it) was the Q from Q107. York Transit
WSIB has released new "prevent it" ads... These ads are great because they do get the message across. But does anyone else think the new ads are going a bit too far? I mean these ads are running primetime during shows like Survivor. And there's no indication of graphic content in the commercials. Here, take a look, CAUTION: Graphic Content http://youtube.com/watch?v=0ZqP1fwtswk Wilson

2VivaBlue91
WSIB have to be graphic and there should not be any warnings. Safety is a serious thing and the ads have to be "fear instilling".

Its so stupid (exactly why its in the Stupid Commercials thread). Why the hell did they even make these commercials in the first place? If those idiots never knew, kids are watching this crap too.
