Stopped by Starlite Transit Center for a little 705 action this morning.

Also at least one of the new ABRT/Orange Line XD60 is almost done at NFI.

No idea on a unit number, actually it looked like the graphics might not have been added to it yet. I think it was waiting to be pulled into one of the final finish bays. There may have been another unit as well but not sure. The other buses I saw were MTA XDE40 which also have yellow butts  and blue noses, so kind of hard to tell them apart with the thick cover of greenery and how packed together everything was.

Saw them. 8120, 8122-25 are up there and should still be this week as their plant is idled. I think we’re getting 40 buses. 26 for the D line, 14 for the Orange Line. This includes the eight options that were exercised in 2019.

Five more Phantoms listed for auction:

- 1069 - Lot 37633 https://minnbid.org/Mobile/AuctionLot/38090

- 1029 - Lot 37634 https://minnbid.org/Mobile/AuctionLot/38090

- 1043 - Lot 37637 https://minnbid.org/Mobile/AuctionLot/38094

- 1033 - Lot 37636 https://minnbid.org/Mobile/AuctionLot/38093

- 1041 - Lot 37638 https://minnbid.org/Mobile/AuctionLot/38095

1061 was bought by a private owner in the Bay Area. The rest of the buses listed in the last auction got bought up by LEA. The owner seems to have a tendency to swoop in and buy stuff at the last minute and the now-owner of 1061 was able to beat him by going beyond what appears to be LEA’s reserve of $3k.

So, if you want a Metro Transit bus…be prepared to bid beyond $3k?

The 5 buses are parked adjacent to Shingle Creek if anyone wants to see them. Was able to inspect the buses today. Seems to run well.

The MCI is a prisoner transport bus. It’s been used to transport detainees from area protests. I think Corrections owns it.

Updated fleet roster just dropped from Metro Transit. Update as y'all see fit.

With the majority of the 2008 11xx Gilligs and some of the 2010/2011 12xx ones as well noted as inactive, I'm guessing the chances of seeing any remaining Phantoms in service during the Fair are slim. Probably the same for the D60 unless they plan to run heavy on artics for additional space. Thanks for getting the update.

Two safety-related articles out today, one of which by yours truly which entailed speaking to tons of light rail and C Line riders, as well as seeing a guy put a pipe on the mouths of two women at BCTC

A few photos of the D60 action plus 7291 from around lunchtime in downtown Minneapolis today. With the Farmer's Market on Nicollet Mall and Hennepin still under heavy construction, all buses are detoured onto 2nd and Marquette Avenues during the event.

Metro Transit State Fair bus operations will be majorly curtailed this year due to the operator shortage. (LINK) Only 3 park & ride express services will be running. No other expresses or the 960. I do hope they'll be able to drop a few extra filler runs on the 3 and A line though. It does appear however that the State Fair funded free shuttle services will be largely similar to previous years.

Given this news I have to wonder if the D60 are now out for their last hurrah before complete removal.

8115 entered service today and is currently on the C Line. It is part of an 8-bus order for the D Line. Only differences were the two additional seats in the accordion section, and the ring around the turntable is painted yellow.

New page for tracking; the VINs are currently out of date but working to update them now.

Noticing a lot more trip cancellation alerts these days. Looks like the justification for taking over the Red Line is dissipating quickly.

The big drop in State Fair service might have big effects on the fair/transportation. I noticed they are adding free park and rides a bit further east than before. Will be interesting to see how attendance turns out, but I would imagine it is going to be very high this year.

8114 and 8115 appear to be working the C currently. If those are for the D line then what will be on Orange when that starts running in December (or March?) 8120+? Seems a bit odd to get buses now and mothball them for a year until service starts. (Though with the XE60 fleet being OOS it works well to drop them on the C in the interim)

It would be hilarious if they quietly transfer Red to MTS in another year and contract it to First.  I'm sure for posterity though they will continue to operate it.

It also seems like this year MT is sort of promoting the suburban operator State Fair service a bit more with the location map and list vs. just mentioning they may have options. Or maybe it's just more noticeable now without all the regular MT sites listed.

I'm curious to see if they might throw a few artics on the A Line during the Fair this year.

I seem to recall that they usually listed the suburban providers in the State Fair brochure, but sometimes not in detail.

With the 960 not running, I'd imagine the 3 is going to be slammed. Sundays and Labor Day especially rough with 30 minute headways.
