Would this affect the Donnelly Transit?

No it dose not. Donnelly Transit is a completely different company from Aboutown with a different owner.

Yes the Interurban transit has been extended for six months. The city and para contract is up for tender but it is only for six months as well starting jan 1st. There are stipulations that the city can pull any contract at anytime in that six months when and if they agree on a new system. this has been going on for over a year and still nothing has been resolved. City is broke and dosn't know what to do about the bus system. Thats why Aboutown got the year extention last year, so the city could figure out what they want.

There is a picture of the interurban buses that they run on page 2. They have a couple of old cutaways one being an ex niagra air bus. They also purchased a few ex Casino windsor shuttle buses.

The contract with Voyageur is for a 6 month period until July 2014. It looks like some 'enhanced' service will be run, adding a extra hour of service on weekdays and going to a 30 minute frequency on weekends. Another tender is going out for operations beyond July 2014, it will be a 7 year contract. Of note Voyageur's bid was 15% lower than the price Aboutown (Donnelly) is providing under the current contract and 22% lower than their bid on this tender.

Voyageur was also the successful bidder to operate the Paratransit service.

Will they be using the same equipment that Aboutown was using before? Please get something new for the fleet but not cutaway plz

Should they get hybrid artic Xcelsiors ??

Seriously, Voyaguer has been on and off with the London para transit contract over the years. All they have ever operated are cutaways (and Sprinters) so I would expect more of the same for Chatham. It is a perfectly viable choice for transit in Chatham given current ridership levels. Transit systems are run to be effective for the taxpayer, not at the whim of bus fans.

they are bringing in newer equiptment. same type of buses(cutaways). Same service for now since it is only a 7 month contract. The new contract will have all the new routes, times etc. Coming from chatham and having direct ties to this some of you guys are funny with the comments

And in the new contract is asks for low floor cutaways. 1-2 wheel chair tie downs. Audio and Video announcing system, electronic fair boxes and gps tracking.

Aboutown property on Grand Avenue in Chatham has been placed on the market by the receivers. Asking price is around the million dollar mark. I have seen the actual list price but there is no need to get into the real specifics. Hope everyone gets straightened out for wages that may have been owed if not already, if indeed wages were owing; and that, as far as this forum goes, Chatham-Kent gets a good operating transit service that feels the needs of the citizens of the municipality.

Everything is clear and done with Aboutown. All pay was up to date and paid on time as the company promised. Service is as usual nothing changed other then the buses all drivers went to the new company. Service is still.the same buses are still late but that is something the city has known and hopefully fixed with the new contract.

more info includeing nextbus is coming to chatham and arboc buses.Blenheim Bus Lines is owned by a denure

It is very interesting that the Denure family will once again be involved in the operation of CK Transit. Of course, prior to contracting to Aboutown in 2003, Chatham Coach Lines, owned by Reg Denure provided the transit service in the Chatham area for a long time going back to 1948.

Reg has nothing to do with it. He's retired. This is going to be a dispatching nightmare. I personally had a problem when it was just split between aboutown running the conventional and para, and radio cab running the urban. People get upset really quickly when they have several different numbers to call for different services. Chatham isn't like london or windsor. Everything has always been under one roof. Like the buses they chose except that they want to push for.more ridership and the first complaint will be the buses are too small. Other issue is.they only run to 7:15pm. The city want to.promote the new theater and shopping centers they want to build but it's on the edge of.town and if you go see a movie you need a cab to get home. Yet the para buses run to 11pm fridays
