Mystic
Here's the list of buses used for the 167 LaRonde shuttle used during fireworks nights this summer, for the months of June and July. Please if everyone could do me a favour and keep this discussion related to the Fireworks Shuttle, I don't want this topic to be closed as well. Thank You. 1st Night Wednesday, June 20th, 2007 11-003 11-006 12-051 12-054 13-034 14-162 14-177 17-041 17-128 Route #167 Le Casino shuttle
mtltransitguy
This is not a sighting but related to the fireworks shuttle; Since when is it FREE? The three times I went to La Ronde last year (season pass), I had the driver take my Metro Transfer, and both times that I took the 167 back to Jean-Drapeau (walked once to dry off after "the splash") I paid my fare with tickets onboard the bus. Is it just after and before the fireworks that they are free or is the 167 (which branch) always free? I just want to settle my newly created uncertainty. THANK YOU MYSTIC
Mystic
This is not a sighting but related to the fireworks shuttle;Since when is it FREE? The three times I went to La Ronde last year (season pass), I had the driver take my Metro Transfer, and both times that I took the 167 back to Jean-Drapeau (walked once to dry off after "the splash") I paid my fare with tickets onboard the bus. Is it just after and before the fireworks that they are free or is the 167 (which branch) always free? PLEASE ONLY ONE RESPONSE and NO BULL, I just want to settle my newly created uncertainty. Well, I thought the exact same thing as you did until I rode the 167 LaRonde shuttle in both directions and the 167 Casino shuttle in both directions for free. I don't think that it is meant to be free, but since you are "stuck" so to speak on the island, that they automatically assume that you will be taking the metro back. However, last year I noticed that a lot of the drivers on the LaRonde shuttle had garbage bags over their fareboxes and told everyone to pay at the metro. That's what I did when I boarded the bus just for busfanning purposes, I asked the driver if I had to pay here, and he said, no pay at the metro. So to respond to your question. I haven't personally seen any driver force the passengers to pay on boarding at LaRonde or at Jean Drapeau. Since they don't have the time or reason to pursue anybody, you're most likely either getting off the metro, in which case you'll most likely have a transfer, or you're going to metro, in which case you'll have to pay anyways. So that's my theory.

mtltransitguy
Ur missing the 11 that was on it tonight! When we left 26-076 had moved to 167 Casino, but it's sister 26-075 was on the shuttle all night, Mystic will tell you more, as well as the interesting way they were turned back with buses jumping ahead of each other, and others faling back in the lineup, it was very random, another quick note it was surprisingly mostly LFS, and the 1 Classic and 2 LFS that were there when we left aboard 33-008 were all rear-boarding, as well the pay-at-metro system was fully utilized. We helped two groups of 2 kids get home, the first was at the 167 lineup; -Where is the 169 -There's none 'till after 11:00pm, take this to the metro instead Then when the pyrotechnics were going off; -Where's the bus that goes to Papineau? -It doesn't run right now -Go over there take one of those, get to the metro get off at Berri-Uq.... The kids walk a few feet not wanting to here our wise advise but instead ask people who were going to their cars where the 169 was! Obviously they had no idea so they two boys went on to other people, they eventually must have found their way to the 167 because I didn't see them again. Well that's what you get when you don't listen to transit-fans LOST!
Mystic
I'll have Night #3 up a little later, but here's the complete list of the #167 runners for Wednesday, June 27th, 2007. 2nd Night Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 11-053 12-046 12-051 12-054 13-033 13-035 15-005 15-081 17-131 16-053 Route #167 Le Casino shuttle Some of the regulars from last week, and some brothers and sisters of last week's fleet. Mystic
Most of the sightings were seen after dark since we arrived just after 9:00pm because of our annual supper. There were atleast 3 buses running on the 167 Le Casino last night, but I was only able to get the number on one of them since the other two had left by the time we went back. They were listed as "167X Le Casino" for their destination. And funny enough, some of the La Ronde shuttle buses were listed as, "167 Les Iles". Also this night I was able to finally get a photo of one of the 11's I have been looking for. So enjoy the stats! 3rd Night Saturday, July 7th, 2007 11-057 12-056 13-038 14-119 14-163 17-081 17-120 17-131 26-075 26-076 Route #167 Le Casino shuttle It appears it was a 50/50 mix of Classics and LFSes, this is probably the most LFSes I've seen do shuttle runs, but even at rear-door boarding, it was not enough to cover the amount of people, so whoever was the dispatcher in charge really dropped the ball that evening. Mystic
5th Night Saturday, July 14th, 2007 11-050 11-052 12-078 17-094 17-120 17-149 18-005 12-053 - 167 Le Casino Shuttle (Thanks matt) A really disappointing evening for busfanning at LaRonde. Only 3 Classics and 4 LFSes were running this night. They were missing atleast two buses for this shuttle, and on top of that they used LFSes to compensate, which meant VERY long lineups, VERY stressed out drivers, and VERY impatient passengers. The LFSes were loaded to capacity, yet the lines never went away. Finally 3 Classics pulled up to pick up the slack, but then a driver infront got into a conversation or argument with a passenger, which held up the entire line of buses that were trying to load up and leave. On top of all this, it was raining and there was no security or no CO parked at the LaRonde loop. I hope they've learned their lesson, and will make sure they have proper management of their vehicles, and that these heavily used routes should have 100% Classics to help with the passenger flow. Mystic
6th Night Wednesday, July 18th, 2007 11-003 (23) 11-016 (65) 11-053 (62) 11-072 (63) 12-046 (60) 12-049 (61) 12-054 (64) 14-110 (66) 14-171 (32) 17-044 - 167 Le Casino Shuttle (Replacement) 26-080 - 167 Le Casino Shuttle (Broken Down - Brakes Locked on - needed towing) This night really made up for any of those LFS sightings from last week. 100% Classics on the 167 LaRonde shuttle, and only one LFS on the 167 Casino run, which broke down, and was replaced by another LFS. This is probably the most 11's I've seen on one route or in one spot in a VERY long time! After chatting with the CO, I found out that he had personally requested Classics because of the capacity. According to him, he's noticed atleast 15 more people can fit in a Classic than an LFS, and he needs to be able to pack the people in as much as he can for the best frequency and service. He did mention that he usually asks for atleast one LFS in the mix for the sole reason of accessibility so that if there are wheelchairs or carriages that want to board, he can invite the passengers to wait 15 - 20 minutes for the 1 or 2 LFSes in the mix to make their round and return. This way, disabled people won't have reason to complain if the attempt was made to have atleast one accessible bus. The CO also apologized for the previous week that had majority LFSes running, and he found it funny when I said that there were over 100 people waiting at one point and the buses kept loading up and leaving and still didn't make a dent in the lineup. mtltransitguy
5 Buses as far as I could tell tonight, 3 Lfs and 2 Classics both MCI's!!! They were: -11-003, the oldest 11, signed up as 167 Les Iles -12-054 signed up as 167 Plage! Both sound good, the 12 looks great but the 11 still has that rust as it will probably have 'till retirment .
