Are 9752-9756 retired??

It says they are on the wiki but they were all fine on the 29th of July.

Any info??

I was only told that the CNG Orion Vs were to be retired, no mention was made of the diesel Orion Vs going, so I am not sure where this came from.

Oops sorry! Must have been sleepy when I edited it. It's corrected now and the way I wanted it originally.

The Cornwall page on the Wiki is totally messed.

The lists should be sorted using the fleet numbers, the last two, numbers, not the year. When I was there they refer to them by the last two numbers as well, ie 9449 was called 49.

Here is 9447

On July 29th 2008 before the afternoon run. Don't use it without permission please!!

I had just been to the garage 11 days before you,

I saw 9447 in the garage. The only Orion V CNGs I need to see are 9446 and 9448 (although I would like to get a photo of 9445 for my collection!)

As for the diesel Orion V the only one I don't have a photo of is 9244.

By the way I believe that 7722 and 7723 were retired in early 2004. IIRC the new yield to the bus law was introduced in 2004, I saw both of these buses retired that year with the new yield sticker on them.

That's a very nice shot of 9447, thanks to OC for sharing it here! A couple of observations about this.

1. the original rims were blue

2. is that corrosion I see coming from around some of the windows and fenders? looks like the body is bending and buckling?

3. interesting to note that 9447 is still using the same plates it got from the '75 fishie it replaced! And those plates had been on the fishie for a few years.

4. I have all the license plates in my notes somewhere if there is any interest in adding it to the wiki. But there would need to be a way to note more than one plate number per bus since quite a few had multiple plates. Perhaps someone here can fill in the gaps with the more recent occurrences.

5. too bad they are putting ads on the side. Through most of the 90s there was only a tailboard plus interior ads. The side ad is distracting to the overall smart lines of these 94s.

6. The wiki looks great except one of the 85s was retired in 2005. Also, the date that 7828 was sold should be noted; I believe it was 2005. There were major service cuts and bus dispositions that year, that may have been when they lost the school contract.

Also, on the listing of Ontario transit companies, it says Cornwall Transit operated from 1971-present. This is untrue. It started in 1974. From 1970-74, transit in the city was privately run [into the ground]. Photos from that period seem hard to come by, as perhaps people/fans lost interest after CSR got out of the business.

Railbus I would love to see the list of license plates. I have several rosters, form 1995 onwards including the most recent, and would love to see what the older plates were.

7828, 8557, 8761, and 8762 were sold to Kingston Transit in July 2005. Yes it was a result of losing the school contract.

By the way what happened to the other 1978 New Looks?

Yes please. There is a column for previous licence plates in the individual fleet number pages.

Glad to see there is interest! I see too the plates have been added behind the links on the wiki page. Thanks. Here are the additions/corrections:

Plates:

9137 = BE5-607

9138 = BE5-606

9139 = BM1-141 (latest)

9140 = BM1-144 (latest)

9141 = BE5-605 (correction to previous)

7620 = BE1-741 (correction)

9753 = BJ5-255

9754 = BJ5-256

0565 = BM1-148

0566 = BM1-147

0567 = BM1-146

8131 = BC5-853

Replacements. A replacement program was started in 1991 whereby the PLAN was for 5 buses per year to replace the entire fleet of fishbowls but the plan obviously didn't last for long. The 91-94 models were all replacements for 75s. The election of Mike Harris in 1995 pretty well eliminated this plan so it was a good thing they got an early start in 1991!

9137 > 7503

9138 > 7504

9139 > 7502

9140 > 7501

9141 > 7505

9242 > 7508

9243 > 7511

9244 > 7513

9445 > 7512

9446 > 7515

9447 > 7510

9448 > 7514

9449 > 7507

Other:

7621 retired/withdrawn from service in January 1995

9550 arrived in December 1995 and retired by 2005 along with 9651.

9445 fire damaged and retired in 2003

Anyone have the license plate number of 0564? And can anyone add to the more recent plate replacements? Seems BM1-142 and BM1-145 are unaccounted for.

See the attached photo of 0564 ... licence plate is BM1 149.

Kevin

As I was about to take a photo of 0564 it drove away from the garage, so I missed it!

D40LF was interested in some photos. I have a photo album I took back in the mid-90s and all are 4x6 prints. The scans didn't come out that great, but you can at least see the 9244, 9445 and such that interested you. I also added a couple of extra shots for fun. Hope you like.

Thanks for the plates guys! I think all gaps have been filled, except I see an error in the long list above. The plates for 9753 and 9754 are transposed; I verified this with my photos just now. Thanks also for the photo of 0564!

Ah!

I just magnified the plate on the white bus I pictured before and I can see BH6-25...so that's 7112! The mystery is solved.

I just looked through my photos from this past July and 9754 has BJ5 255.

For Kevin L, as he is doing the Wiki, I have the following VINs.

8130 - 1GDKP32M2B3501653

8131 - 1GDKP32MXB3501657

8232 - 1GDKP32MXB3504428

Really? Wow. I wonder if the wrong plates were applied upon delivery and the mistake was later discovered? Why would someone switch around the plates on two vehicles nearly 10 years after delivery?

Here is my evidence.

How interesting!

This is the photo of 9754.

Now I admit you can't see the license plate but note the bus in the background, 9447.

So with this shot of 9447, you can see the license plate of 9754 is BJ5 255.

HOWEVER

When I was there in 2004 I also got a shot of 9754 and it does indeed have BJ5 256. So it looks like it was changed in the last four years.

Good job, M Boone. I think that could very well be the one. I have interior shots of the bus and the seats look exactly the same as those shown on your site. Overall condition of the interior is the same too. So Vaughn 910 ex-TTC 7330. Now the TTC guys can give us an extra boost to confirm. The only thing I'm now not sure about is where the 7112 number came from.

I would disagree that this is 7112.

For a start the number 71 would seem to indicate this is a 1971 bus, the one suggested is not.

As for the number 12, the original 12, 7512, was sold to Guelph Transit in 1995, a couple of years before 7112 operated in Cornwall.

I am going to take a wild guess that the bus could be Vaughan Transit 910. (ex TTC 7330)

The bus did not stick around long from what was said in this thread. maby Cornwall Transit leased it from VT for a short period in 1998? when the cornwall fishbowls were getting rebuilt.

here are some photos of VT 910:

I was thinking the same thing as Vaughan 910 had the same engine door on it.

And yeah, I can't get those images to work either.

YUL Bus Charters is not done for 2008!

Projected Cornwall Transit charter to be held in a few weekends, preferably in November! The bus will be a 1994 Orion V CNG - projected retirement March 2009 and therefore no chance of making it to Spring 2009.

Details to follow.
