Does the average rider even care, as long as it gets him/her from A to B safely and on time?

your right. it does not make a difference weather your in a Cutaway, an Orion V, or a D4500. if it's used for transit, your not going to be on time

those blue birds are certainly unusual!

I'd imagine they're not the most comfortable bus to ride, but hey, as long as it gets you from a to b.

Yup, comfort was not that great (probably was an extra expense option), after all it's just a school bus, and not engineered like a newlook/old look or any other real transit/intercity bus. I consider real to include air bags and proper suspension btw

its all nuts and bolts in the end,my friend. :)

No its a real bus. After all it carries passengers!

So does that mean the 12 Passenger vans that Cherrey Coach runs are "real buses" ? Or the 7 Passenger vans that Hendry Coach has ? Both carry passengers in service.

Just because it carrys passengers does not make it a bus... under your theory a Taxi Cab can be classified as a bus.

There is Coachs, Buses,Cutaways and unfortionatly vans !! all are different from eachother! You(D40LF) of all people should know this !

My comment was that Cutaways are buses after all they (that means Cutaways) carry passengers. I don't think that Kingston Transit considers its Ford E-450's as anything but buses and I know that Kingston Access Buses are considered buses, its even in the title!

afaik, under the ontario highway traffic act, a bus is any vehicle designed to carry 12 or more passengers usually,(though not always-church buses, etc...) for commercial purposes

period.

that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Probably much the same in other provinces' Highway Traffic Acts, Motor/Public Vehicles Acts, whatever.

So St. Johns is down to only 2 New Looks left now?

Wish I had seen one in July. Even driving by the garage I didn't see one.

BTW the new LFS40102s would be 2008, not 2009 as they are already built and delivered, and its still December 2008.

Squeaky wheels needed to grease need for public transit

Published on October 14, 2011

TRURO - Colchester County officials would like more input from residents interested in a public transit system.

...

A recent feasibility study indicated that public transit in the Truro area would require public subsidization of about $738,000 in the first year of a five-year plan. Colchester County's share as proposed in the study would be $396,190 while Truro's cost would be $341,874.

Mayors put the brakes on public transit

Published on December 26, 2011

Topics : Truro Daily News , Colchester County

TRURO - The mayors of the Truro and Colchester County say a new form of public transit will not be coming to the area in the near future.

Truro Mayor Bill Mills and Colchester County Mayor Bob Taylor told the Truro Daily News that the ongoing discussions considering the implementation of a transit system have resulted in a decision to postpone the project.

"It's best to hold off for a while," said Mills. "We need revenue generators, not revenue eaters."

Taylor said the idea was a good one but there are more pressing matters locally to attend to.

"It's a great project but without a lot of support we're not going forwards. We have a number of big-ticket items on the go."

Taylor said implementing such a system would most likely require a raise to the tax base and some people would not appreciate that.

"I like being pro-active (but) people have to realize this is going to cost," he said.

The mayors said the topic could come up again in the future.

The transit issue came before council last December when resident Mark Martin voiced his desire to run a government subsidized transit system. In the spring, the town and county commissioned a transit feasibility study, which cost $50,000 with the province paying $37,500. The remaining 25 per cent was split between the town and the county.

A questionnaire resulted in 122 responses. Sixty per cent said they would be "very likely" to use the system and 27 per cent would "likely" use it while five per cent would "never" make use of it.

I have many blind friends in Moncton, they even told me to not bother moving there, in their opinion, the transit SUCKS in Moncton..

Don't forget Bridgewater Transit. They were given 2 ex-Halifax Transit cutaways (formerly used on Metro X routes) for the start up of service on October 16, 2017.

Fixed... and thanks for the tip! I had honestly never heard of this before, somehow... B)
