VIA6408
I saw their first Xcelsior looks so much better than a Eldorado with the Death Tick. Sharp looking bus.
Chris W
I saw their first Xcelsior looks so much better than a Eldorado with the Death Tick. Sharp looking bus. And that means? Did the ElDorado have the death tick? Please explain this set of words and letters.
niatrans10
New Flyer was the only bidder on the tender for the 35' bus, so would this be the first 35-foot Xcelsior in Ontario I assume? It came in at $399,390.00.

Megabus Rider
$400,000 for a 35 foot bus? Wow... thats honestly kind of scary. I bet they could've gotten a D35LFR for alot less. It's because they specified 1 unit. If they had, let's say specified 10 units, then the price per unit would be less then that. Also this would be a one of a kind bus for New Flyer to produce because of being ordered by one customer...
Cimon8000
Welland should wait and tag on someone's else order if they want a good deal, but back then they couldn't wait any longer to get rid of their lemon Bluebirds

97SCT
The same people who petitioned to keep the 4 Fitch Street service (which was eventually cut) this past summer, are trying again to have the route re-instated, plus to add Sunday service; http://www.wellandtr...havent-given-up

Chris W
Ummm....They can't and won't do that. Route 1 and route 8 get modest ridership. 1 and 8 are also the best place to find the 1994 Orion Vs.

97SCT
Dropped by Welland today and was met with a rare occurance; all 6 Blue Birds were out today while 1149 was the only Eldorado running.

Billster8724
Not sure if any of you would know the answer, but does Welland Transit provide the course to obtain the required licence (bz?) ? I know places like oakville do that. As well what is the minimum age? I have looked around for this information but nothing so far. Thanks, Bill
lap_screw
No they do not, when i was younger i asked them that and they said I had to already have the BZ/CZ.. Oakville is the same way now.. you have to have your BZ or CZ.. most places want you to have your licence already saves them time and money

I would like to do it as a career for a bit while I do my flight training, but if its going to cost $7000 than nevermind
cmc12
Anyone know why all the Blue Birds (except for 1141) lost their Welland Transit logos? My bad. I would like to do it as a career for a bit while I do my flight training, but if its going to cost $7000 than nevermind As TWCS mentioned, best way to get a (free) B licence is through a school bus company (I know there's a First Student branch there somewhere), and a Z endorsement can be obtained for around $200-300 and probably through Niagara College. 902
Anyone know why all the Blue Birds (except for 1141) lost their Welland Transit logos? They had bodywork done and they never bothered to re decal them. I personally think they look better without the blue stripe.

Chris W
1140 and 1141 were the only ones that weren't rebuilt. They are the only ones that seem to be consistently in service. The rest are pretty much a toss up.
