New Flyer was the only bidder on the tender for the 35' bus, so would this be the first 35-foot Xcelsior in Ontario I assume? It came in at $399,390.00.

Ohhhh.....this should be interesting now. I never knew a 35-foot counterpart would have a $400,000 price tag....

$400,000 for a 35 foot bus? Wow... thats honestly kind of scary. I bet they could've gotten a D35LFR for alot less.

It's because they specified 1 unit. If they had, let's say specified 10 units, then the price per unit would be less then that. Also this would be a one of a kind bus for New Flyer to produce because of being ordered by one customer...

Not sure if any of you would know the answer, but does Welland Transit provide the course to obtain the required licence (bz?) ? I know places like oakville do that. As well what is the minimum age? I have looked around for this information but nothing so far.

Thanks,

Bill

No they do not, when i was younger i asked them that and they said I had to already have the BZ/CZ..

Oakville is the same way now.. you have to have your BZ or CZ.. most places want you to have your licence already saves them time and money

My bad. I would like to do it as a career for a bit while I do my flight training, but if its going to cost $7000 than nevermind

Anyone know why all the Blue Birds (except for 1141) lost their Welland Transit logos?

As TWCS mentioned, best way to get a (free) B licence is through a school bus company (I know there's a First Student branch there somewhere), and a Z endorsement can be obtained for around $200-300 and probably through Niagara College.

They had bodywork done and they never bothered to re decal them. I personally think they look better without the blue stripe.
