suggestion - could we set up an "Information Bank" of sorts to answer common questions? We dont need to store the info here, but we could link to it.

for example:

where can I find the latest transit news for toronto?

A: this website: http://transit.toronto.on.ca/index.shtml has good info

where can I find past TTC phamphlets, including those on vehicles?

A: this website: http://www.transitstop.net/ttc_promotional_pamphlets.htm has many of those

where can I find past OC Transpo Fleet Rosters?

A: this website: http://stw.ryerson.ca/~m4yip/transit/oc/index.html has pictures and fleet rosters

where can I find info on the C-Train?

A: this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-Train has much good info

etc etc.

That was kind of the point of this forum, but there aren't many questions being asked. :o

no worries, I'm back now. :P

but my thinking was more along the lines of putting certain information into one place. what I've tended to notice is that people post information in a certain thread, that might only be partly related (HSR fleet info in the HSR DE60LFR thread, or former TTC Artic routes in a thread on Route Allocations) and when you post that in a related thread (a thread on TTC Artic routes) you get a terse "That's already been confirmed in another thread".

You just don't give up, do you...

On a discussion board where there are numerous topics dealing with numerous events in various different cities, obviously there's going to be some overlap. It's called flow of discussion, or train of thought. Nobody can police whether something's on topic, or not, when it's a natural flow of discussion.

Apologies in advance if that made no sense because I have a splitting headache right now. Why am I posting when I have a splitting headache, you might ask? I don't know.

I dont have a problem with overlap, but I find that some people do, and overlap tends to trigger the "dumb question" accusation alot.

Then perhaps those people should grow up and learn that on a forum like this, especially when we are always getting new members - repetition of common questions cannot be avoided. Personally I don't see how are these questions annoying or stupid, as long as it's not being asked by the same person over and over again, or the answer of the question is obvious (such as........."what is Coca Cola?" or "what is a bus?") Even myself, I would not be able to avoid asking your so-called "dumb questions" - after all, how would I know that the question has been asked for 2 billion times in the past, if I didn't even know the answer at first place?

I'm curious, but...

Supposing if I were to try to put up a pic in my signature but it's not a part of a website. Naturally, if I were to try to post an image, it'd almost always ask for the URL for the website, but in my case, I've got a ton of pics which I may choose to put into my signature rather then words. Words alone after awhile can get stale, if you know what I mean. :)

Any guidence is appreciated...additionally, what would be suggested size? 120 by 120?

Sign up at http://www.maj.com.

If you want a picture, make it no larger than 750x200.
