Nick B Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 On the evening of January 29th, 2025, a Bombardier CRJ-701ER operating for American Eagle (American Airlines) as PSA Airlines flight 5342, and a US Army Sikorsky VH-60M Black Hawk helicopter collided with each other as the airliner was on approach to Reagan National Airport in Washington DC. No survivors aboard both aircraft and a combined total of 67 fatalities. This makes this the first fatal crash of a passenger airliner operating for a US carrier since Colgan Air flight 3407 in 2009, the deadliest thereof since American Airlines flight 587 in 2001, and the first fatal crash of a passenger airliner in the United States altogether since Asiana Airlines flight 214 in 2013. Not many details are known at this time as to causes or contributing factors, however this is certainly an enormous tragedy and a shock to both the North American aviation industry and the US military.
