9718Et
Hello All. I could really use some help in identifying the Year, Make and Model of these Wheel-Trans vehicles. I would like to try and fill in some huge gaps about the history of Wheel-Trans vehicles. Im a retired TTC operator and I retired while working at Wheel-Trans. I also worked at All-Way Transportation in the early 80s and I have driven the Thomas Mighty Mite and the station wagons. Sadly I cannot find any records of these vehicles. I did find something on Toronto Transit that mentioned these vehicles but there are no records of build years. I have included what information I found below The Thomas Mighty Mite - What year was this vehicle built? I do know it was built on a Chevrolet P30 Type B chassis. In the research I have done I think this might be a 1980 model. A clue might be the shape of the headlights. About 1981 or 1982 the shape of these headlights went from round to square or rectangle. The Station Wagons - What was the Year, Make and Model of these wagons? These vehicles came in after the Mighty Mite. I might be wrong but I remember them as being a Pontiac Parisienne or Safari. Possibly built between 82 and 84. The Wayne Transette - What year was this vehicle built and what chassis did it use? I found one photo of it and it only showed the front end. I have it being built on a GMC Vandura chassis. Might also have been a Chevrolet G30 chassis. The Dutcher Parataxi - What year was this vehicle built? Its been confirmed that this vehicle went into service in 1987, possibly as a demonstrator. There were only 1 of them. I have been told this vehicle was in a collision and never repaired and was likely scrapped. Something of a sad history to this vehicle. These vehicles were widely used in Iowa. After their service life ended, one was kept in the Iowa Museum of Transportation. The museum itself had to close due to foreclosure and the vehicle was never seen again. Thank you all in advance if you can help with these details. Ed
