Emergency Vehicles

Since I they just scanned it last night...

In Toronto. I belive it was around Bay and Bloor?

I've never seen one of those trucks before. BTW, in Toronto the police cars are getting a new livery. Instead of the red and blue lines going all the way across the sides they curve down on the front doors and the words "Toronto Police" are there in grey. They look alright, they remind me of Brampton Transit for some reason.

Bay just north of Bloor, to be precise.

Jan, this is the new TPS paint scheme. Personally, I think it's awful. Every time I see it I think of it being a chase vehicle for some Fox-esque TV news station.

And unless things have changed recently, the ambulance buses are stored in the ambulance garage on Dufferin south of Finch.

Nice livery on the Police Car! Is that the new livery that will be applied on all the new cars?

Does anyone know, where Toronto EMS keeps that Orion I?

i believe EMS sold their orion. I saw one parked right near to Lawrence East Station.

I am too lazy to upload them here. You can view them via this link http://alexlee.0catch.com/firetruck/firetruck.htm I have a couple more but i don't have time to upload them now.

They make a good product, and were part of the Chrysler empire (under Freightliner) until 2006 when they were sold off.

American LaFrance is 5th largest US maker of emergency vehicles. It was bought by the New York investment firm Patriarch Partners LLC.

Yes thats the new livery , its simlar to lots of smaller Ontario forces. They keep the Orion I at EMS head office near Sheppard and Allen

Here's one today, at Birchmount and Sheppard at the Esso Gas Station. There was another one parked infront of the "On the Go" but it took off before I could grab a picture.

Emergency Vehicles / Transit Vehicles get they're fuel supply from local Gas Stations, using a Credit / Debit Card Type - Fleet Card, that has no balance what so ever on the card. Just Gas, Swipe, and Go.

Taken today!

They had more than just one Orion I , they had 2-3 of them, I know of them only getting rid of one

I think they had a bit more than that, they had COMM1, ESU5, ESU6 and couple of either 30 or 35ft Orion I's. COMM1 and ESU 5 are still in service with Toronto Ambulance, ESU 6 was retired a few years back with the delivery of the new ESU 6 (El Dorado National). ESU 5 is kept as a backup for ESU 6.

That scheme is not only awful but it reminds alot of antother Police Service's scheme I think its York Region Police or another one perhaps. The best one I have seen but only on the news and not on the 400 series highways are the OPP's crown vics which have returned to the traditional black and white. Another scheme that I like is the all black crown vic that the Traffic division (TPS) seems to use. This cruiser has no lights on the roof but one light located in the rear and front windshields and a reflective logo that is seen when light hits the car or you see it up close.

As for firetrucks I love the Toronto Fire's new Arial trucks. I have been watching them manuver in city streets and the rear axle actually turns similar to a D4500 when turning tight corners. The engine and power sounds amazing when they get up to speed for a truck this size. Don't know the name of the builder but I've seen something to the effect of Slimen (not sure on spelling).

I wonder if TPS or OPP are getting any chargers would love to see them in my favourite schemes.

OPP is also getting a new batch of Impulas in the new colour anytime now, and isnt the Charger cost more than a Crown Vic and Impula another reason why they are 3rd in police sales?

I like that new frightliner bottle truck they got that holds supplies for the ESU fleet
