9411 has moved to McNicoll

From the looks of it, the 939 FINCH EXPRESS (and maybe the 39 FINCH EAST/339 FINCH EAST BLUE NIGHT) won't be the only route to get both LFSA and XDE60 artics, there are rumblings that the 43 KENNEDY will likely be converted to Artic operation in the coming weeks.

In that case. 6 artics will replace 9 rigid buses on the 43A branch while the 43B will run with 4 artics in peak with 2 in the midday. In total plus the 43C, the route will operate with 12 artics during rush.

What's your source on this?

I checked with a reliable person in the know, and they have not heard anything about this upcoming switch. 43 Kennedy may get artics on an occasional basis (similar to how there was one last weekend, due to a driver switch) but no permanent allocations.

It was one of posts on Instagram that the TTC's Bus Head has shared. Please forgive me on that.

Even the 129 McCOWAN NORTH can still get artics from time to time, like they used to when Malvern operated that route.

9447 is the only Mount Dennis XDE60 out on 29 Dufferin and has been the only one running since last week wonder when they’re going to send the rest of 9400-9434 to McNicoll and put the rest (9435-9467) in service at MT Dennis

We'll have to wait and see as 9446 is a McNicoll bus so it could be that most of this fleet could possibly reside at McNicoll

Apparently they plan to send 9446 back to Mount Dennis once they send over 9400-9434 and also mcnicoll wouldn’t need 46 artics plus the nova artics they already have

The 41 is never getting artics again. There was enough complains about stupidly wide headways and I'm glad they reverted it to standard buses. Honestly everyone should be praying for the TTC to not convert their route. Artics just means wider headways over long travel times as they dwell longer at stops. They should only be deployed on limited stop routes. We can only dream that TTC will replace standard buses with them at 1:1 ratio.

The 941 was converted to artics and that messed it up. You can be waiting 20 minutes for one to find out it's a standard bus as half the PM rush are not dispatched with artics. This along with the wide headway, slower travel times and terminating at Finch West instead of York U campus (since 2017) totally killed the routes' ridership. The same would likely happen with the 935 conversion.

To actually answer your question. 10 is enough for a conversion based on today's headways. 12 if they want to do a 1:1 replacement (which they really should do). The question is do they really need artics on the route? It's 12" headways in rush hour and 16" in midday. It's terrible if they move it to 15" headway for rush hour and 20" for midday. At this point, they should just discontinue midday service.

The 905 reverted back to standard buses after all this garbage dispatching. That's probably the best thing that happened to that route recently.

Routes they should convert should be the 927, 939 or 960. The 935 doesn't seem to be a good candidate anymore. Maybe they should just take all the 36's artics and throw them on the 35.

The 935 is 100% still a great candidate. Jane's ridership has been steadily increasing year by year. It experiences crush loads all the time during rush hour on weekdays. They once had local service every 4 mins and express every 8 minutes and it STILL wasn't enough because the buses just didn't have the capacity. That only caused extreme bunching.

Even the 335 JANE BLUE NIGHT may also get artics as well as the 35 JANE and 27 JANE SOUTH. Hell, they can retrofit the 9100s with Wi-Fi once they get removed from the 36 after Line 6 opens. Articulated buses on Jane would be a interesting move given the city is working on the Jane BRT running from Eglinton to Steeles as a byproduct of the cancelled proposed JANE LRT line that was started by David Miller under Transit City. The 905 was also one of them (and still uses them today) and even the 25/925 may also get artics since the corridor was proposed to be the DON MILLS LRT as well.
