Detroit DOT 24-hour service

Recommended Posts

@140 Southshore is starting a new project that provides detailed history on DDOT routes, but one thing I've noticed on the project so far is that the 2 Michigan doesn't list when the route stopped–and later resumed–being 24-hour.

DDOT completely eliminated 24-hour bus service in the March 3, 2012 service changes, removing it from the routes that were then #14 Crosstown, #16 Dexter, #19 Fort (the only one of these that never got it back), #21 Grand River, #25 Jefferson, #34 Gratiot, #45 Seven Mile, #48 Van Dyke-Lafayette, and #53 Woodward.

It wasn't until the January 2016 changes that any of that was restored — and at that time only to Gratiot, Woodward, and Grand River.

Crosstown, Dexter, and Seven Mile saw restoration September 2016. Michigan, Van Dyke-Lafayette, and Jefferson were in the third batch, January 2017. (Source on resumption schedule).

The #17 Eight Mile bus became 24-hour with the retirement of DDOT's RefleX service in April 2018, and the (now renumbered) #1 Vernor and #10 Greenfield got their first 24-hour service with ConnectTEN.

Also, the Chene bus was once 24-hour.
