Many additions and updates are needed in the Chicago transit Authority roster. XE40 700 is now assigned to 77th garage with 701 and both units are currently active. These buses are exclusive to the Route 79 79th (with rare exceptions like the 4 Cottage Grove but that's rare). 701 is the main one used but one time last week 700 was out too.

No problem! I also want to confirm garages of D40LF's where they are now and the status of the buses. This post will be used for D40LF's between 1000-1429

1000-1009 are now assigned to Kedzie garage with 1013-1016. 1017 is out of service on Long Term Hold but was last assigned to Kedzie Garage.

1010-1011 were taken Out of Service and are now being used as work buses (they are no longer in the CTA livery, they're just white)

1012 is Out of Service after it had a minor engine fire in 2022. The bus seems to have been repaired, but has not entered service yet. 1012 was last out of service of Forest Glen in early 2022.

1018-1023 are assigned out of Forest glen

1024-1027 are assigned out of 74th

1028-1064 are assigned out of Forest Glen.

1551 may be active but we are not sure where it is at. It once was a community bus and also a vaccine bus, but it is not retired.

The following buses are assigned to 77th Garage: 1558-1561, 1574, 1584-1591.

The following buses are assigned to Forest Glen Garage: 1592-1613, 1615-1619, 1621-1625, 1627-1629.

The following buses have not run since prior to March 2023, and have last operated out of Kedzie; the following 3 buses are currently at South Shops: 1614 1620 1626.

Fix errors about 1245/1321

1st before everything else: Please put 1830-1929 in the same spot as 1630-1829, because 1630-1929 are a part of the same order with same transmissions and everything, 1930-2029 is a different option with Allison transmissions rather than ZF.

The following Buses are currently active out of Forest Glen: 1630-1645, 1647-1649, 1651, 1653-1663, 1665.

The following buses are out of service and have last operated out of Kedzie: 1646(potentially retired), 1650, 1652, 1664 (all are currently at South Shops, but the last 3 aren't in as bad of shape as 1646).

The following Buses are currently active out of Kedzie: 1666-1668, 1672-1683, 1686-1692, 1694-1696, 1698-1703, 1705, 1708, 1710, 1712, 1714-1716, 1721-1722, 1726-1729, 1734-1737, 1743, 1747-1748, 1750-1755, 1757-1759.

The following buses are Out of Service (most at South Shops) and have Last Operated out of Kedzie (ones without dates mean they have not run since before December 2022): 1669 1670 1671 1684(Unit is officially RETIRED) 1685(last ran 7/10) 1693(last ran 4/26) 1697(possibly retired) 1704, (1706 1707 1709 1717 have last operated in May/June 2023 and 1717 was stripped of a major part), 1732, 1738-1741(1740 is possibly retired, 1738 last ran in early July, 1739 last ran in early February, 1741 has last operated in May), 1756(possibly retired?)

The following buses are Out of Service (most at South Shops) and have Last Operated out of North Park (same deal as with Kedzie ones I'll list dates if they have run since December 2022 or after): 1730 1742(last run 6/25) 1746(last ran in 2021) 1765 1771(last ran 12/14/22), 1773 (last ran 7/16 but has been stripped of  multiple parts, possibly retired at South Shops) 1778(last run 5/2), 1792(last run 6/27), 1794(last run 12/31/22), 1800(last run 6/20, at South Shops), 1814 and 1820(both last ran 3/10), 1825(last ran in December 2021, unit is officially RETIRED), 1828(last ran 6/26), 1833(last ran 7/10).

The following have not operated in August of 2023 and are Out of Service: 1856(South Shops, last ran 6/20), 1859(South shops, last ran in 2022, was told this may be returning to service once repairs are complete), 1868(last operated 1/10/23, at South Shops), 1870(last ran in April 2021, more than likely retired. South Shops.), 1875(last ran 7/26/23), 1883(last ran 3/13, South Shops), 1886(4/20, stripped of one major part, possibly retired but not known for sure), 1887(last ran 7/18), 1888(last ran 6/8), 1890(last ran 12/15/22, was told it might be retired from service for good), 1894(last ran 6/3, at SS no bike rack).

 

1895-1896 are out of Chicago Garage, 1897-1899 are out of Kedzie Garage, 1900-1921 are currently active out of Chicago garage and all have run in August 2023.

1922 is Out of Service at South Shops and has not run since 2021 or early-mid 2022, last ran out of Chicago Garage. (1922 is RETIRED)

1923-1924 are active out of Chicago garage.

1926 has not run since 7/14/23 and is Out of Service at South Shops south fence, last ran out of Chicago garage.

1927/1929 are active out of Chicago Garage.

1928 is out of Service at South Shops and last ran out of chicago Garage.

This post will be used for all the Allison buses between 1930-2029

1930-1933 are assigned out of North park Garage.

1930 has not run since 2022, so it is Out of Service, and is Long Term Hold at South Shops, 1931 is Out of Service as it has not run since 5/1/23.

1932/1933 are active.

1934 is currently active out of Chicago Garage.

1935 has been out of service since Summer 2021, and it is now RETIRED. it has last run out of Forest Glen Garage. It is now RETIRED at South Shops. 

1936 has been out of Service since 7/4/23, last run out of Chicago.

1937 has been out of Service since 4/18 out of Chicago Garage. That bus might possibly be retired as it has been pulled for rusting and cosmetic damage, and they etched RUST on the back panel, and they took out a lot of parts from that bus. That bus looks like it's retired based on photos I were given about 1937, but it's not confirmed if it's retired or not Yet.

Every bus between 1938-2029 (excluding 1993, retired due to a fire) is assigned to Chicago Garage. Below, I will list out buses that have not been in service in August, most are Out of Service.

1945, last run 7/19/23, 1948 is at South Shops and has not run for over 8 months, 1953 has not run since 6/8/23, 1959 and 1961 have been Out of Service for over 8 months, 1963 is on Long Term Hold and is currently Out of Service at South Shops, last ran 6/26/23, 1966 last ran 6/19/23, 1968 last ran 7/25/23, 1980 last ran 6/1/23, 1984 last ran 7/19/23, 1990 last ran 7/30/23, 1996 and 1997 have not run for over 8 months and are Out of Service at South Shops, 1999 has not run since 5/4/23, 2008 has not run since 1/19/23 and is at South Shops, 2013 has not run for over 8 months, 2016 last ran 1/19/23, 2018 last ran 5/30/23, 2027 last ran 7/12/23 and is at South Shops Out of Service.

 

Below, I will list all buses that are active in the 3 options of the 8350 series.

8350 is not assigned to Forest Glen for the moment, it might be used for something else that does not involve passengers or possibly on the Blue Line Shuttle (not confirmed)

8351-8382, 8384-8387, 8391-8395, 8397-8399, 8401 8403 8408 8410 8449 8461-8463 8465-8468 8470-8471 8473 8481 are assigned out of Forest Glen.

8383 8388-8390 8396 8400 8402 8404 8406-8407 8409 8417 8426 8428 8431-8432 8434-8448 are assigned to 103rd.

8443 has been involved in a shooting on 4/19/23 and is currently Out of Service, it has not returned to service yet.

8405 is assigned to 77th Garage.

8411-8416 8418-8425 8427 8429-8430 8433 are assigned to Chicago Garage. Chicago Garage does not operate 8423 8429 or 8433 often.

8452 and 8457 are assigned to 77th with 8550(used for Blue Line Shuttle for now) and 8405.

The following Novas have operated out of 103rd Garage: 8453-8455 8459-8460 8464 8469 8472 8474-8480 8482-8500 8502-8503 8505 8510-8516 8518-8522 8524-8525 8527-8528 8530 8532-8542 8545 and 8546.

Ones not mentioned above have not entered service yet.
