Gsgeek540
A 30 Foot CNG Vicinity Demonstrator arrived at Stoney Transit Facility earlier in the week. Unit number is 1996. Don’t read too much into the fact that it is at Stoney and all shuttle work is out of Spring Gardens. All commissioning/decomissioning of buses now occurs at Stoney, training is based out of Stoney and of course, all CNG fueling stations within the system are at Stoney.

I wonder how long it'll be staying there. I'm hoping one of the Calgary people could provide more information on this.

I saw one at Spring maybe a month or so ago, is this the same unit?

Nick B
#1996 back out on the 114 again tonight. It was not out yesterday.
R. Meu
And here it is (in service)! I also noticed that when it was deadheading to North Pointe the sign was blank and did not display Out of Service then, so I wonder if they only put in a separate program that only has the code 114 to display on the sign.
Nick B
Rode #1996 on the 114 from 78 Ave to North Pointe earlier. No farebox or MyFare so I was let on for free. The bus does have CAD however. The seats are different from the 2016 Diesels and are reminiscent of those on Edmonton's 7000-series XD40s. Rear exit door is the two piece rotating type (as opposed to the single piece plug-type door) and seems to be operator controlled. The driver had some issues with the gate at the Centre Street car trap. He told me the bus has a transponder but it's hit and miss on whether it opens the gate. Not sure if the 2016s had the same issue. Attached are a few photos from my second Flickr. Recorded a 20 minute HD video with my GoPro Hero 8 which will be up later tonight. 1996 by Nick Blonski, on Flickr 1996 by Nick Blonski, on Flickr 1996 by Nick Blonski, on Flickr 1996 by Nick Blonski, on Flickr 1996 by Nick Blonski, on Flickr
