Well this is a lot to process! Like literally lol My friend posted these Screen Grabs from Flixbus' Trustpilot Review web page on his personal Facebook. I checked myself and there are on Flixbus' Trustpilot Review web page. It seems there was a breakdown of sorts on the night of July 27 into the morning of July 28 on the NYC to Toronto run operated by Skyway Coach Lines. Literally Skyway  Coach Lines just stranded the passengers in a Mall parking lot in Scranton, PA for 12 hours before a replacement bus arrived to pick up everyone. To make matters worse, the engine could not run so no A/C and the passengers ended up sleeping on the grass for the rest of the night into morning.

My friend who does Ourbus between Toronto and Buffalo said they have had break downs with Fitzgerald Brothers several times but with a yard in Geneva, NY, Fitzgerald can get everyone moving in 2 hours whether a replacement bus or road call for repair. Ourbus would even put passengers in rideshares as Ourbus has an account with Uber. Adirondack Trailways has buses all over New York State and Trailways has been in the business for years.

Happy Reading lol

Sounds a little exaggerated to be honest. But on the other hand, it's not like this has happened to other companies before. Don't act like Ourbus or any other company is super perfect when they can run into similar issues.

This is usually what happens when you don't own your own fleet and send out the tender to the lowest bidding carrier.

Skyway coach is not exactly known for maintaining their fleet to optimal standards. I often see them driving down the street with loose panels, wobbly tires and tons of black smoke come out the back.

When you see 3 posts that coincide with each other based on the list of events, I don't think that's exaggeration. Have you been on a Motorcoach with no A/C on a humid day? It's not pleasant and the description provided is accurate based on being on a Motorcoach with no A/C on a humid day.

My friend has said with Ourbus, they have had their share of breakdowns since starting in August of last year, but both my friend's company and Fitzgerald Brothers would NEVER strand their passengers for almost 12 hours. Trailways would NEVER strand their passengers for almost 12 hours.

Yes, there are other reviews that have no context to the complaint and therefore I would call that exaggeration.

Yeah I do know how it feels, I work on coaches for a living.

At the end of the day Ourbus replies to some of those negative reviews and still maintains a 4.2 out of 5 star review compared to Flixbus at 1.4 out of 5 star review.

At the end of the day though, who was in Paris?

If Flix was so bad they wouldn’t have the presence they have around the world.

Keep in mind those reviews you’re using as a benchmark is accounting for all the service providers worldwide.

I think it’s unfair to throw a small company like Skyway under the bus (literally) based on world wide reviews, but then again what do I know about this industry.

You do know Flixbus is just a Tech Broker? There are no regulations for brokers so ya they can pretty much operate anywhere.

That's the problem with Companies that get too big and put profits before people. Just hope Ourbus does not turn out to be Flixbus 2.0. Ourbus has something good going on with those high reviews.

Skyway could have gotten 5 star reviews but started off with 3 negative reviews. I am not using the world wide complaints but rather focusing on those complaints posted on routes operated by Skyway. Stranding Passengers for 12 hours in a Mall Parking lot on a night trip is not a rookie mistake. Majority of the time Greyhound would strand passengers inside their terminals. Flixbus is a Worldwide company, one would expect that Flixbus would have contingencies in place to deal with break downs like Ourbus having an Uber account. According to those passengers, they had to wait 12 hours for a replacement ride.

As stated, my Friend who does Ourbus said they had quite a few break downs but both my Friend's Company and Fitzgerald Brothers have never stranded Passengers for 12 hours. Both Company's have contingencies in place such as Ourbus having an Uber account and my Friend's Company would pick up Canada bound Passengers from Rochester Airport.

Trailways has buses in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton and Hoboken, NJ.

It would not hurt to ask questions instead of making assumptions because you assume that I just want to 'throw a small company like Skyway under the bus'

If you understand how regulation works this is how Greyhound, Coach Canada and Trailways throw companies 'under the bus' when a new company applies for a new license for Intercity bus service.

FlixBus is adding more stops to select routes.

Toronto to Ottawa is adding a stop in Whitby and Kingston if passengers have purchased a ticket for the new stops.

This is along with an extension from Toronto to Buffalo to instead service Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Effective this Thursday.

I got (Ex?) Autobus Breton 1601 on the Flixbus from Kitchener to Toronto yesterday.

PXL_20221013_005528445.thumb.jpg.84b21b9fcf8142d654ae82bbb94446d5.jpgPXL_20221012_224908521.thumb.jpg.53d324d1c2780dfac31b4da4387fafcb.jpg

This is definitely a recent acquisition as a friend saw it in full Breton livery on July 20:received_838575687161652.thumb.jpeg.af80684d86a0028aeeabf664f8baedb9.jpeg

Does anyone know who the operator of this bus/route is? Could not find any text saying the operator or USDOT number on the side of the bus.

Gallexy Tours operates the Toronto-Kitchener corridor on behalf of Flixbus.

They seem to be rotating through a variety of used equipment for their Flixbus runs, interesting to see their latest acquisition.

FlixBus ends the Guelph Toronto route. But will continue to serve Guelph to Kitchener. Once all day GO Train service happens, I am positive that the Guelph Kitchener service will dissolve as well or even sooner.

They’ll do that frequently I suspect… it’s not a great way to build a brand or ridership. They usually change the operating days around frequently based on their algorithm… I don’t think it’s a great way to run a railroad… but what do I know?

Flixbus is piggybacking on Greyhound's Insurance to satisfy the insurance requirement with Metrolinx. Flixbus is doing the same thing in Boston at Boston South Station.

That leaves Onexbus, Ourbus and Book-A-Ride outside.

That seems like an old bus to be used for Flixbus. I find it interesting how sometimes they have very nice coaches and sometimes old units like this one.

That's what you get for contracting out to the lowest bidder - it's up to the company you hire to find vehicles, and they may not always get the newest and shiniest ones around. That's especially if you don't pay them enough to buy new equipment.

Gallexy Tours (who owns GT0598 above) has been around for a number of years, always seemingly going through used coaches faster than toilet paper. One of the two coaches that they acquired and wrapped for Flixbus service launch in April has already been returned and released to a competing company (Book A Ride). At least Flixbus' other ?? contractor (Skyway Coach Lines) has been largely using the coaches they purchased new in 2018 on their Flixbus routes.

I'd also add that right now it is super difficult to get any newer equipment right now. Especially when Flix wants 5 years or newer and with wheelchair for some buses. Any new bus orders from Prevost are all spoken for into 2023. MCI has a 6 month wait list. Any used bus on the market is either too old or not available. Can definitely see the variation in equipment.

I would say it looks appropriate for the owner of Greyhound. Yikes. Does FLIX specifically require the use of wrapped equipment or is a bus a bus?

My friend observed a Brand New Temsa operated by Skyway for Flixbus at Buffalo Airport. It is the 45 foot model and it has a lift.

It might be this, a friend spotted it at Union last Saturday. Fleet number is 9651 which is similar to Skyway's numbering scheme.
