TTC Orion VII Retirement Tracker

Also, this could be a stretch, but it looks better if ttc has more hybrids on their books than diesel buses. So the 1000 lasting a bit longer because their hybrid despite new buses at the same divsion. I wouldn't put it past a political stunt. But that's me with my tin foil hat on.

Who would had thought a few years back that the Orion Hybrids would have lasted their entire intended lifespan of 18 years. A handful of active ones are already past 18 years. The 8000s are a whole year newer. Maybe they are keeping the repainted buses and the public won't notice.

If they were to return in September for this alleged service increase it would be heaven

I'm hoping TTC will save another orion vii og, they promised to save two.

Does this mean that 8079 is no longer being preserved?

We knew it was coming but it’s very disappointing that the end happened in the blink of an eye. There wasn’t even an announcement they didn’t want to have too many transit nerds make a fuss about it so they kept it low key. Felt like it was a rapid mass retirement for the last 20 or so remaining active units which were all pulled from service this month.

I’m glad I decided to ride 8086 for fun last night.

The 8000 are a whole year newer than the 1000, but with all the breaks downs of the 1000s  they had in the begining, I'm sure the 8000 have more milage on them. But after all these years, the difference in mileage might not be much. It also helps that there was 150 1000 , so more chance of spares to persevere some of the mileage.

Either way, end of an era.

How many 1000s are still active?

47 according to the list on the first page.

I think they will preserve it, I pray for it

Another OG is supposed to replace 8091 for preservation, whichever model it may be.

I hope they preserve 8097, but if they don’t, 8063 is another good option. It rides well and has the NG stop request bell.

8051 will be used for Caribana. But I doubt some will trek down there just for that bus. Lol

Chances are this one will be preserved. Then there’s also 7913 and 7952.

All of the remaining OG diesels are now retired as they have been moved to North Queen. The only remaining units at Queensway are 8025 and 8072.

Can anyone confirm the locations of 8063, 8076, 8079, and 8091?

Additionally, can anyone also confirm which NG diesel units are now retired?

Are the 1000s not equipped with diesel particulate filters like the 8000s are? If so the 8000s are actually more “environmental-friendly” than the 1000s even though they are hybrid😂

They are also equally as loud as the 7900s. They do sound fairly loud on the 35 and 32. Genially I’m kinda surprised nobody in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood sent noise complaints. (Maybe I could be wrong.)
