Out of the 4 different models that currently operate on Queensway routes the OG diesel is now officially the hardest to find as the EPA10 diesels now outnumber them after the latest round of transfers. Better get those rides and photos while you can transit enthusiasts.

Last minute decision to keep this bus on the roads a little longer and has been reactivated.

That's amazing it feels like the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday

I want to get a few more rides on an 8000. There is a drivetrain hum/whistle that goes with engine RPM so you hear every shift and converter lockup. There is no other bus series I am familiar with* that has this unique sound. Not the 7900s, and not the 8100s (I just rode one this afternoon).

Wiki says they have ISL9 engines similar to the 7900s and 8100s and an Allison B400R that was used on a lot of previous buses back through the years.

Perhaps it's all in the exhaust system? Or there's some drivetrain uniqueness to the 8000s? Perhaps BusMedic knows.

* I did not ride the 6V92TA Orion Vs nearly enough to be familiar with them.

Only unique thing to the 8000 order was the ad hoc “passive” aftermarket DPF thrown on.

Do you think when will be the point which all the 8000s will retire.

Looks like there are less than 20 are in service during the pm peak so end is probably near?
Maybe they will all be gone by the summer?

I don't even think TTC themselves know. There have been reports of the odd one or two 8000 coming out of retirement temporarily.

And with a service increase coming in Sept based on what Leary said. I see them staying at least until the end of the year. 7913 and 7952 recently went through an MTO extension.

Now that service increase in Sept could be the simple school schedule coming back, hidden as an increase. But we'll see.

What is that status with the 1000-1149 buses they haven't been retiring In a while but 8000's are dying fast.

Who would have thought back in 2006 that the 1000 would last this long. Longer than the 7900 and potentially 8000s.
