In Pittsburgh, Port Authority has run hundreds of Neoplans -- of various models and configs -- continuously since 1982. The last ~3 units (2005/2006 AN-460-A artics) are living on borrowed time out of Ross Division. If I'm not mistaken, these are also the very last Neoplan USA buses ever built. I crossed paths with 3122 this past Monday, September 23, 2019. I managed to set up a good pic of 3122, after she cleared Downtown and stretched her legs on the I-279 HOV lane. Immediately after 3122 cruised by, I felt an odd sense of closure: after 20+ years of photographing Neoplans in the 'Burgh, that will almost certainly be the last time. EQReport Posted October 26, 2019 Report Share Posted October 26, 2019 These are the four finalist Neoplans in Pittsburgh, outlasting 21 others by over a year. All the Neoplans started out at East Liberty division. After Harmar closed down, 3119-3125 were sent to Ross, where they served the rest of their lives. At the beginning of 2018, 3103 was given a second lease on life by being sent out to Ross as East Liberty retired the 5 remaining ones they had (3104, 3105, 3106, 3112, 3117) by the end of the year. The Ross ones missed out summer 2018 due to AC issues, and only recently have 3103 and 3123 seem to be retired. 3124, by the signs I've seen from the bus itself, and various operators, seems to be headed towards preservation, which is awesome. Unfortunately, though, the last Neoplan bus ever built by Neoplan (3125) is long gone. 3 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I caught up with 3110, taking care of business on the 71A on a pleasant afternoon in 2014. By @EQReport 's report, this unit never did make it to "semi-retirement" at Ross -- and has likely been off the roster for a few years now: Here she is a couple hours later -- and just look at all those happy customers, pleased to see a solid, spacious Neoplan pull up for their homeward commute! Just when I thought I had photographed my last Neoplan in Pittsburgh, look at what turned up in San Francisco. Apparently, 8106 is one of only two or three Neoplans still rolling at Muni as of February 2020. Holding down the 25 Treasure Island, on a Sunday, no less. After snapping this pic, a customer using a wheelchair deboarded. The lift was in perfect working order; the bus was in very good condition generally. Happy customers disperse: A moment of peace before starting the next trip: ...then returning to SF after a quick loop to and from Treasure Island. Notice the "wrong way" traffic flow heading into Salesforce Transit Terminal; it enables buses to access the business side of the boarding island: Not bad for 20 years of service in a grueling environment.
