OC Transpo Orion VII Hybrid Retirement Watch

Recommended Posts

All of the hybrids that are slated to be decommissioned are currently parked, however, until such a time that they are to be decommissioned, they are avaliable as last resort buses. All are identified by a yellow circle either beside the front fleet number or on the drivers window.

I don't think I remember seeing a list of soon to be decommissioned Hybrids. Know of some off the top of your head? I know they're going to be retired as awhole, but I just wanna know when to expect which models to be retired (for wiki).

To my understanding yes.

Is that possibly going change with the announcement that they're going to take 40 buses out of retirement?

Unlikely, as theyre due for MTO inspection. Theres some Inveros that were decommissioned with valid MTO inspection, they are being recommissionned.

Currently riding 5167 on the 57 to work and I didn’t see it on your list @Enviro_1203 so does that mean this bus stays in service (for now)?

He will let us know which units are retired when he gets the info.

All buses that aren't on his list still remain active for the time being.

So, given the news that OC Transpo is reaching out to other operators for loaned buses, are the remaining serviceable hybrids safe for now?

I believe they are continuing to maintain the remaining active hybrids

It seems the number of hybrids in service are declining by the day. I'll be personally posting hybrid spottings here to keep track.

5065 → 111 Baseline (Heron/Prince of Wales @ 7:05 PM)

Don’t forget, reduced service this week due to lack of school supplements, therefore, less vehicles in use.

If I'm not mistaken, they're for OC employees, as are the rest of the 800 series routes.
