STM 39-XXX Delivery Watch / Sightings

Recommended Posts

Based on the fact that only 016, 017 and 018 have been seen active so far, there is a big probability that the rumors were true: 001-015 will go to the 747.

Any news on this?

I am wondering if they will have wi-fi 🤔

That is starting to make sense. I don't know if it it's relevant, but I have noticed that there are more 747 upgraded buses (30-001 to 020 and 31-211 to 220) active on normal bus route at off-peak times. 31-215 was on the 105 just earlier.

By comparing planibuses, it seems there is a little bit more service on the 747 during the last board period than the January one, so probably they need less buses to cover 747 runs, and some buses then will end up on regular routes.

I wonder why 39-001 to 015 don't have the 747 livery like 29-149 to 156 and 31-001 to 008 then.

My guess is the REM. The 747 will be in service for maximum 5 years so maximum 1/3 of a bus lifespan. I guess they don't want to repaint these buses!

For sure the 39-001 to -015 would go to the 747?

One thing is for sure, 39-001 have racks & I didn't see the bus in service yet.  We might have some news later for the buses between 39-001 & 15.

On Friday night I saw 39-018 on 161W at Plamondon stn. Very ugly seats inside and some 37000 (or something) license plate at the rear. Not impressed at all if this is the future of buses in Montreal. And to think that Plante wants 300 more of these types of vehicles!

Here's a video of 39-001 and if you look closely at the interior it looks like they removed all of the folding seats on the driver's side.

I don't know what to say... the seat layout looks ridiculous but I have to ride on one to confirm the thought... so I wonder... a) couldn't the STM just use the 31-00X's layout instead? It's quite neat and well planned I think; b) is the STM planning on stuffing tourists like sardines standing on a highway ride  by leaving that much standing room and that little seat? I don't think it's worth the 10$ premium ticket for tourists to stand on a highway ride in potentially bad traffic; c) Come to think about it, on a 40 ft bus we are now down to about 20 seats... and the nb of front-facing seats can be counted on two hands... d) I am puzzled by the lack of folding seats in the wheelchair area...

I truly hope that, given it's the only 747 hybrid in service at the moment, that the STM could be testing it and bring further adjustments on them...

Looks like I may continue taking Teo Taxi to the airport just like I always do... until the REM opens. The hybrids themselves may be better than the 3rd gens but the seating layout is just ridiculous. Not worth the $10 fare.
