Looks like they're expecting these to work like a charm which I don't see happening... From a test and evaluation standpoint, it makes sense to put them on a high volume demanding route. Â Jane also has some pretty good hills, too, in addition to the heavy loading. Â The whole purpose of testing and evaluating these buses is to determine what their operating characteristics are like and what their limitations are so a lightly used line with easy terrain and short service hours is an environment pretty much any bus will do well in but it isn't one that you'll learn a whole lot about the performance envelope etc. from. Â Remember, you don't learn very much when everything goes right. 3 1

Orion VI Posted April 12, 2019 Report Posted April 12, 2019 Any word on when these buses can be expected to start delivery?

They should’ve stuck with the Gemini seats. 2

Stops At Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 Nice to see Flyer back in Toronto. I'm sure there will be lots of photos appearing some how before going into service if you catch the drift. 3
ttcrecr Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 Lol weren't BYD disasters in Albuquerque. I predict these things will die in the winter.  Like DIE.

lip Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 I'm surprised the TTC went frameless windows for the XE40s. I wonder what the factor went into making that decision. In either case, this will certainly be a nice change from NovaBus which i personally detest for various reasons.

The LFS in Toronto was one of those yay wow moments. But now there are so many of each model there, the excitement goes away. 1
lip Posted April 16, 2019 Report Posted April 16, 2019 ^To be honest I dont care that there are X different bus models operating in Toronto, the thing that bothers me the most is that we got such a large quantity of a quacked up bus (Nova's) to say.

I'm curious as to what the weight difference is between framed and non-framed; those full size panes have to be pretty porky...and more expensive...
