Track is starting to show up at the OMF. I don't believe the building is ready yet... 1001 was still stored under a tarp at last observation. The article mentioned construction progress, not the vehicles. Wonder how (if) they were thinking
M. Parsons
Additionally, any compensation for late cars would be different than in Toronto's case as this is a P3 project. Overall, the construction is behind. Some areas are as much as 1 year behind, although, that doesn't necessarily mean the entire project is that late. Other parts could be a year early I supposed, but, I don't think that's the case.
M. Parsons
The second car has arrived, #1004. Back in early June Bombardier tweeted that there were 10 cars basically hanging around at Kingston waiting to be shipped, so, presumably they just grabbed the car that was most convenient to ship. 1001 is still housed in it's tent. However, the OMF building FINALLY seems to have all of it's doors installed. Maybe... just maybe... they are ready to start receiving the fleet? No rush to unload 1004 however. It's been at Bissell for 4 days at least already. 1004 is likely the car that will be displayed at the Mill Woods Town Centre at the end of this month. armorand
From photo: Quote Not to be confused with the Siemens-Duawag 1007 that is already in the ETS fleet. Not sure why they chose the numbering system they did, but the existing 1007 will be long gone by the time this 1007 joins the ETS fleet as the valley line is being built as a public/private partnership where Transed will operate and maintain it for a number of years before it reverts to the cities ownership. I was aware of the P3, but I thought the P3 applied to the construction and station-related aspects, not to the LRV's themselves. Is there a link somewhere, so I can read more about this? Viafreak
Another one should be on its way to Edmonton. Saw it at the end of a CN manifest train near the Manitoba/Ontario on the mainline. Not sure as to the number of the unit as the train was going quite fast. As Thunder Bay isn't accessible from the CN mainline, I would think it would be coming from Millhaven but I could be wrong. M. Parsons
You are correct, Millhaven not Thunder Bay. I believe I heard 1005 was the next due in.
brookiedbj
The LRV's are starting to be tested. TransEd just put out an email this afternoon. https://mailchi.mp/ae2f20bb4d3e/light-rail-vehicle-lrv-train-testing?e=2068c8add4
