ETS's 4083 Posted January 30, 2018 Report Share Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Saw a similar topic created for Toronto's remaining 1980's CLRV/ALRV streetcars, so I decided to create this page for the Edmonton area's last remaining 90's buses. ETS #4046-4174 and StAT #853-857 are some of the last 1990's New Flyers left in service in Canada (definitely the last ones left in the Edmonton area), and StAT #855 is the last transit vehicle in the Edmonton area with rollsigns instead of digital signage. All these buses are due to be replaced in the near-future. So, in a manner similar to the Toronto streetcar page, I will keep a running track on this comment of which of our late-90's buses remain in service, and which ones have been retired. At the time of this comment, the only bus from this category to be retired so far is ETS #4086, which was axed in 2014 due to an engine fire. Would greatly appreciate input from you guys, to help us keep track of active and retired 90's New Flyers. Notes: bus - denotes a retired bus; bus* - denotes a rollsign-carrying bus. As for the 1998 D40LFs, they all seem to be active in Edmonton... I'm sure they'll retire by the end of this year, beginning of next year. I'm sure everyone can appreciate how amazing and helpful transit 55 is to fan/operators and just transit users in general. That being said it also take a great deal of time and effort to make it happen! This is also considering that there in no monetary compensation for these efforts. I was told it was going to be a very cheap and basic. Basically just tied with an app (likely Transit app) and shows the time the bus will show up via GPS. It's sitting with 4047, 4087, 4117, and 4184 in the Paterson Compound. 4090 was noticeably missing parts, but I don't think we noticed anything missing on the other buses. 4047 in particular hasn't been seen since January 31. Overall, a decent list, but I will throw some edits on there. 4105 is outside Centennial currently, but, on my mini-tour of Centennial earlier this month, the garage official confirmed that it is not retired. She will likely return to service when the school specials hit the roads again in September. 4161 and 4171 are currently active as we speak. 4167 did see service for a brief period at the beginning of June, and has been MIA for as long as 4105. If 4105 is being stored, then I wouldn't write 4167 off yet, either. With MIA's, we'll get a better idea of what is retired and what isn't once September arrives. It is doubtful, barring any critical failures, that any of the remaining 90's units will be retired until the new electric buses arrive. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ETS's 4083 Posted September 24, 2019 Author Report Share Posted September 24, 2019 UPDATES: 4105 returned to service last week. Two all-day runs, with an AM peak run sandwiched in-between. It, and 4113, are the only two pre-millennium buses to be running out of Centennial currently. 4108 now MIA. Yet to run in September, as per T55. 4167 is sitting in the Paterson compound, retired. Tough to gauge it, honestly. 4113 yet to run in December. It was seeing heavy use on the 23 in the days leading up to its most recent run, so I'm not sure if those runs killed it, or if it just needs additional maintenance. 4105, 4115, 4117, and 4120 are the four 1998's remaining in service, otherwise. Active 1999's are 4128, 4129, 4132, 4143, 4144, 4145, 4150, 4151, 4155, 4156, 4158, 4159, 4162, 4165, 4166, 4168, 4169, 4170, 4171, 4172, and 4174. ETS's 4083 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Report Share Posted February 12, 2020 I rode 4115 on what ended up being its second-last day in service. Rode it on the 15- NAIT at the end of its January 29 AM peak run. It ran in the PM peak that afternoon, and had one last run the next day. @awstott has reported it as currently sitting in Paterson Compound with no engine. Interior photo from after everyone but me got off at the second-last stop on the run. Coincidentally I updated the wiki last night... scroll down for a list of active units. https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Edmonton_Transit_Service Based on what is tracking vs. what we have seen parked, we are most likely down to 12 units total for the 1998's & 1999's.
