This isn’t necessarily true as buses are not always built in order. In fact they are rarely built in order or the buyers numbering.

You're right, however if the buses are built at random, why does the wiki page for the 2001 NABI's look all in order. How about the D40LF's?

Just saying, no argument needed :)

Actually in the vast majority of cases buses in a given order are STARTED in order on the assembly line. Now they might not come out exactly in order if there is an issue of some kind. Some builders issue VINs in advance do buses are not built in VIN order, while others (like Nova) assign a VIN in the order buses are started, so if two orders are being built simultaneously, their VINs will be intermixed, such as the CTA and NYCTA orders last year.

It looks like one of the Bravo! C40LFRs is no longer part of the Bravo! fleet for now. This past Wednesday, 7575 was seen on the eastbound 60 near Santa Ana College at 17th and Bristol streets. It still has its Bravo! paint job as well as the wrap on both sides of the bus, but the Bravo! decals on top have been covered by another wrap and the decals on the back were removed. This is mostly likely a placeholder for unit 7574, which was transferred from Santa Ana base to First Transit in Anaheim for use on North County routes and was also spotted doing the 37 at times. Later that day, 7574 was spotted on the 26, but First Transit didn’t either both putting their decals on the bus, keeping the “CA 43438” used on in-house units at least for now.

I have found 2 videos showing Ex-OCTA 2001 D60LF's operating for Santa Cruz Metro. According to the description, A total of 3 2001 D60LF's (Formally OCTA) are being leased for Santa Cruz for a 6 month pilot program up to June. Its possible that these were being leased from Transit Sales International due to the buses being in a plain white livery, however, I could be wrong. The following units are with Santa Cruz as of right now and have the fleet numbers 2101-2103.

  • OCTA unit 7420 is now Santa Cruz Metro unit 2101
  • OCTA unit 74?? is now Santa Cruz Mero unit 2102
  • OCTA unit 7417 is now Santa Cruz Metro unit 2103

I rode 2101 / 7420 last year. I'm not sure if they returned these units back to TSI/CCW after buying the 4 Ex-VTA units, but they might have, as I haven't seen anymore sightings of them. 7402 was 2102. My good friend rode all 3 of them.

Some updates for the February 2020 bid:

  • Routes 21 and 24 have been discontinued, being replaced with new Route 123 from Goldenwest Transportation Center to Anaheim Canyon Metrolink station; as with its predecessors, it's run by First Transit Anaheim base
  • Increased weekend frequencies on Routes 56 and 72
  • Garden Grove base has taken over Route 862; it was previously done by Santa Ana
  • Suburban C40LFRs 5133-5138 have been transferred from Garden Grove to First Transit at Irvine base, joining units 5139-5150; as a result Garden Grove base now only has units 5121-5132
  • According to sources, 2007 C40LFRs 5502-5506 may possibly be retired starting this bid; also, 5571 has been transferred back to Irvine base
  • 2016 XN40s 5842 and 5843 transferred from Santa Ana to Garden Grove base
  • As of February 2020, 7604 and 7608 have been repowered to Cummins Westport L9N engines

Okay for the first part, these are all under proposal. Only the 553 has a better chance of happening because of board confirmation. As for the 543 and the express routes, these are under proprsal. We will not know until we get closer to the deadline of the Making Better Connections severy period

Ah ok I thought they were not going to be brought back (at least the express routes) but I’m glad they are thinking about bringing them back!
