The 620 morning blocks all start from Bridgeport at 0600, 0700, and 0745.

I'll jump ahead and say that the peak load is 110 passengers. I suspect that's because the standing room at the back lower deck isn't height friendly.

If it’s like the provincial units, standees will actually be banned from the upper deck. That’s why they have the same capacity as an artic despite having more floor space.

Victoria's deckers have only one set of stairs... works fine here, albeit operators have to wait sometimes for people to come down the stairs (even though people are SUPPOSED TO be downstairs before their stop).

I think its a bit much to expect people to walk downstairs while the bus is in motion. Even then, you dont know how long a red light lasts

This is a growing pain indeed, for all transit agencies new to double deckers.

1) there is a changeoff happening at 1:00pm, the decker will NOT be out for the PM rush today.

2) the next round will be the same hours: 6:30am-1pm on route 620

This is a growing pain indeed, for all transit agencies new to double deckers. 

The first/second batch of double-deckers in Victoria (Tridents) have very very narrow stairwells with tiny steps, and people manage to get downstairs before their stop for the most part. The Enviro500s have a much wider staircase with larger steps. 

AC Transit in California actually tells passengers to not use the stairs while the bus is in motion.

Same with Ottawa's. Yes, there can be congestion issues; people often choose to stand around the foot of the steps.

"Attention, Do NOT clog the steps! It's a safety hazard for the upstairs passengers trying to make it down. Any attempt to stand nearby the stairwell you'll be asked to leave"

 

That sounds like it'll help. Can't they make some sort of sign!? Didn't cost much to print black n white. Color i believe is 50c a page too.

GO has the same rules about standing in the steps while the bus is moving; its not allowed. Speaking from my own experiences, when you're walking upstairs, the bus' movements seem alot more exaggerated than if you were to be walking downstairs. Just my two cents.

I used to live in the UK and that staircase looks rather wide (maybe it's just how it looks in a photo, but the British deckers that I've been on had staircases only wide enough for one person at a time, and even then it was still rather narrow)

I also remember many people (including me) going up and down the steps while the bus was in motion

But that might just be a continent difference

The Double decker buses in London were built anywhere from 1960 to this year. It depends on when they were built. BC Transit's 9001-9010 and 9021-9039 were built between 2000 and 2002. The Enviro 500s were built from 2004 onwards.

Are they running all day? Headed to Vancouver on Thursday and hoping to get a ride on a decker!

Unless it gets a change off like last Wednesday where it runs only morning rush (6:30am-1pm). I won't expect it out in the afternoon until all of the 32 Deckers come into service in Richmond. And also 555 (lougheed mall to carvolth exch langley)  is expected to be double decker January 2020 running from RTC. 

 

Is rtc taking the 555 route until ptc (or htc) gets the garage upgraded (again) to accommodate them? (I'll ask this in the right thread if i need to)

555 is going to RTC for now. 
 

Also, the 4th decker I mentioned earlier is 04

It seems job action has suspended all double decker operations unfortunately.
