dowlingm
is anyone aware of the Harbour Lead being abandoned or a plan to abandon it? (the one running along Lake Shore east of the DVP) City and private plans for the area both in terms of Gardiner East and the East Harbour District (Unilever-First Gulf) seem to assume that it is going as it is missing from their renderings and other uses seem to be intruding into the ROW. I noted that as well. And unfortunately, PortsToronto - the owner of the trackage - is notoriously opaque in terms of their decision making. Gil
Metrolinx is going to the trouble of realigning the Harbour Lead while they expand the Don Yard with the proposed Wilson Yard, which leads me to think it isn't being abandoned completely. Scroll down to the Concept Design.

Scroll down to the Concept Design. Thanks, had forgotten that item was in that presentation. Having a railway east of "Wilson Yard" along Lake Shore Boulevard (confusing given the usual term for the Line 1 subway yard), even an infrequently used one, would surely restrict uses beside its length. Allandale25
The new Canada Post sorting facility will remove the spur track that served the City's waste treatment plant at Ashbridge's Bay. From the March 15, 2018 staff report: Quote Site and Surrounding Area The 5.16-acre (2.1-hectare) site is located at the southwest corner of Commissioners Street and Leslie Street. The property is currently vacant and the Port Lands rail spur runs through the site for the transporting of goods. This track will need to be removed and relocated. Various industrial uses surround the site to the north, east, west, and south.
WoodbineSecondExit
I thought mail volumes were dropping! How many sorting facilities do they need in the area!
Allandale25
^ Looks like from a presentation given that it's part of a land swamp where they'll move their existing facility. A presentation that was given to the Waterfront Design Review Panel was posted here.

I'd think the parcel sorting process would be quite different than the letter sorting, that uses machines based on standard size envelopes, etc.

From the March 15, 2018 staff report: Removed and relocated - the Waterfront Design Review presentation notes that the track will relocate onto the west side of Leslie but it will then cut diagonally NE-SW across the bottom half of the lands to rejoin the existing track at Strada Lane. For me the interesting question is whether CP intends to retain the property (600 Commissioners) immediately west of TTC Lakeshore WheelTrans garage...

In one of the presentations, they explicitly state that the sale of the previous facility occured the same day as their purchase of this land - in essance, a land swap. Dan So they swapped 915/945 Lake Shore *and 600 Commissioners*? If you can remember the reference that would be great as I didn't see it in the Staff Reports.
