STO 89xx-95xx Classic Spottings/Retirement Watch

Recommended Posts

About 4 or 5 Classics have been presumably retired recently. These Classics include 9106, 9404, 9410, and 9413. Their driver equipment and fareboxes were gone.

Well, there is a charter tomorrow starting at the Jean-Proulx facility so I'm sure there will some more retired Classics there.

OK, thanks for letting me know. I'm not one of the people on the charter though. I'd probably expect them to retire only a few since then.

As of right now, there are only 12 Nova Classics left, including the following: 9401, 9402, 9403, 9411, 9414, 9419, 9420, 9421, 9424, 9512, 9516, and 9519.

As for the rest of the classics, I will list the active ones down below.

Active status:

89s: 8907 for sure.

91s: 9101, 9103, 9104, 9105, 9108, 9109, 9113, 9114, 9115, 9116, 9117, 9118, 9119, 9120, 9121, 9123, 9124, 9126, 9127, 9128, and 9129. (21 in total.)

All Ex Calgary's are active except for 9224, which is stored. (9 in total)

92s: 9201, 9204, 9205, 9206, 9208, 9209, 9210, 9216, 9217, 9218, 9221, and 9223. (12 in total).

Plus all the Nova's mentioned above.

There are 55 Classics remaining assuming any have not been retired since then. 8902 and 8906 are not counted since they are unknown at this time. 9224 is stored like I said before, so therefore not counted in the total.

Unknown status: 8906, 8902.

Stored: 9224

I see that some of the 90s are in the active fleet at the bottom of the wiki page. One '97 Nova is marked active on the wiki, even though it is in the retired fleet. Could somebody change that?

If you can edit the above list when needed to a) list the fleet numbers of the ex-Calgary and b ) then put in bold those that have been spotted in service, and lastly c) put in red the retired fleet numbers, that would makes tracking everything super easy.

Anything noted from say the past month is almost certainly accurate.

OK, I will bold every classic that was mentioned in this thread so far. The rest will stay in normal font until I know they are active or retired.

Edit: Do any of you guys know how to change color of the text on this forum on an iPhone? I was going to put them in red, but I spent literally half a hour trying to change it, so I gave up. I also tried strikethroughs, but they did not show up. The 3 confirmed spotted Classics are now bolded.

Edit 2: Change of plans, since the color or strikethrough option does not show up on my iPhone, and I can only use mobile devices for now, I will now be taking retired classics off the active list, and putting them in the retired list as the third best option. It may not be the BEST option, but it's the only choice I have for now.

#9411 was the only non-ex Calgary bus I spotted today.

I also spotted #9224 again it's been out of storage for almost 2 years now.

Yes I even have a photo of it back in 2015.

I edited the list above to put 9224 as active. We now know that six of the classics are confirmed to be active out of 56 possible active classics. That leaves 50 left to spot.

I already had it in bold which means it was spotted, but thanks anyway.

Wait, did it happen to have the ghost livery? I know a few of the 91s have it, 9512 and 9519, but not sure about 92s. Did they repaint the 92s at all?

EDIT: 9519, not 9516.

The front is all white. There are colour logos along the side but no blue stripe along the length of the bus, sadly.

Do you have a picture you can post so I can see what you mean?

Here is the group photo that we took at P-O-B Allummetières which might give you an idea of what the bus looks like.

9216 also has a white front with the old STO logo below the headlights.

I noticed that 9216 has a box right where the MCI logo used to be. 9117 does not have it, but some other 91s have it.

From what I can make out, it looks like it has a white front but with a blue stripe that doesn't even go halfway down the bus. Also, why is the MCI logo white?

Paul Bateson was kind enough to post his photos of the 9117 charter in his STO Flickr album:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/buses-international/36200142040/in/album-72157635415663840/

As for why the MCI logo was white, it looks as if the STO simply painted it white along with the rest of the front end cap.
