Lincoln staff present pilot transit plan
Project expected to be launched this fall

The town’s pilot transit project is expected to begin in the fall, and details surrounding the pilot have been released. While technically a one-year project, chief administrator Mike Kirkopoulos said it will be closer to a year and a half so that the end of the pilot can line up with budget deliberations.

BTS buses expected to start rolling through Lincoln Nov. 1

At Wednesday’s committee of the whole meeting, councillors approved a report the recommended choosing BTS Network bus company to operate the municipal transit pilot project that’s set to begin Nov. 1.

Buses will run five days a week to start, though, Lee Ripenburg, manager of roads and fleet, said that could change depending on ridership needs. The town is planning to run the buses during the pilot without a fare as a way to get residents used to having a municipal transit service.

The article also says that they're looking at a 15 passenger vehicle to start off with. Whether or not that means cutaway or 15 passenger van remains to be seen until I go over there and have a look for myself.

And yet still no schedule to speak of. I think it must be unveiled tomorrow as Wednesday is the scheduled launch date.

Last Monday, I went to check out the uLinc system along with Chris W, a pretty good turnout of local residents (plus one wheelchair) to check out the service. Here is unit 5009 on Route 2 Ontario-Bartlett;
