TransLink 2019 New Flyer XE40 H19303 pulls in to Marpole Loop in Vancouver, BC.

TransLink is running a 2.5-year trial of Four electric buses (two XE40, two LFSe) which will run on its route 100, mainly running on Vancouver’s SW/SE Marine Drive.

An impromptu photo op at Neck Road station of the Brighton line during this year's Parade of Trains event produced this shot of "BU" elevated cars from 1907, R33 World's Fair cars from 1963 (in their original livery) and an in service Alstom R160 (Q) train from 2008.

Stratford Transit 1875 is one of the newest LFS buses acquired for the town so far. It was photographed on route 1 Huron. Photo taken August 19th, 2019.

For something a little different, how about:

  • Buses with trailers are still being used in some Switzerland cities. Verkehrsbetriebe der Stadt St. Gallen operates MAN Lion City buses that pull trailers. In the photo, bus # 211 is seen on St. Leonhard-Strauss Street destined for St. Gallen Bahnhof (railway station).

That is definitely interesting! Haven't seen that before. Is it a pre-pay system?

Yes, all of Switzerland is pre-pay and honour system. You can board at any door. Interestingly, most hotels in Switzerland give out free transit passes to their customers. Zug also operates diesel buses with trailers and Lausanne operates high floor trolley buses with low floor trailers.
