I’m pretty sure Michael took the photo that way to add some creative elements to his photography.

The trolley in the background and the crossover in the foreground are transit elements and complement the bus being featured.

Well um, it says here on one of the guidelines here that the vehicle is the main focus and must be the majority of the photograph.

  • Vehicle should occupy the majority of the frame, be centered in the photo, and be the main focus.

Look, I didn’t want to start another argument as there was just one here okay?

Without going too off topic, I don't think those are super rigid rules. Like how many times are we going to look at the same style photo over and over again? The thread loses any level of creativity. If we all followed that rule to a t, this thread would be blander than bland dude. I don't want to sound like a broken record, and I'm not at all bashing anyone's photos, its just that adding some creative elements is never a bad thing. If the post is not appropriate, it'll get called out. Otherwise there's no need to be afraid of spicing things up. Including the post that sparked this discussion, here are some examples:

This second one is a particularly good example:

Just some notable examples; plenty more.

Okay, kind of off topic now, but last thing. Check their photo of the week/screener's choice for some inspiration and also as to what I'm rambling on about: https://railpictures.net/

Greyhound USA 86953 a brand new 2019 Prevost X3-45 on schedule #5645 Toronto to Kitchener. It is rare to find American Greyhound buses the Canadian routes. But this has been a little more frequent. Photo has been uploaded to wiki.

Airdrie Transit 3716 is seen by Centre Street and 43rd Avenue north on the Route 901 East Airdrie. That white panel by the driver's side has been in plain white since last year due to a collision or accident.

As part of a rather large turnover of the MTA bus fleet in 2019, the 2010 Novabus LFSA's that served the M15 Select Bus Service since its inception are being displaced back into local service.

The first two photos are of 1244, which has been transferred to Tuskegee Airmen Depot and is seen running southbound on Lexington Avenue as an M101 to 6th Street in the East Village.

The third photo is of the replacements for the 2010 LFSAs; 2019 XD60s from New Flyer. 6144 is seen here heading south on Pearl Street to South Ferry.

TTC CLRV 4119 is seen here at High Park Loop on July 27 2019, waiting to head back to Main Street station on 506. There are now less than 80 of them left in service in Toronto and provide service on routes 501, 506 and 511. Rumors have stated that these units will be gone by October.

CN ES44AC #3878, one of the units to receive the 100th Anniversary paint schemes, is in charge of train #416 while skirting the Athabasca River at Solomon on CN's Edson Subdivision. This part of the Edson sub was historically the former Canadian Northern mainline, while the Grand Trunk route would have been on the other side of the Athabasca River.

Calgary Transit 7610 is a 1996 New Flyer D40LF, seen on 80 Avenue and Martha's Meadow Drive NE working Route 145 Skyview Ranch / Redstone.  As of August 2019, 24 out of the original 44 buses in this order still remain in active service, and are expected to be fully retired in the next year or so with the arrival of more NovaBus LFS CNG buses.
