shivers
The vote was taken on whether the members trusted the union executives to call a strike if contract negotiations break down. That's a big difference from voting to strike.

shivers
"If a deal isn't reached by March 19". Like I said, if negotiations break down, then the union execs can now call a strike on their own without having to first call a confidence vote (or second strike vote, if you prefer to word it that way) amongst the union members. I just wanted to clarify, because saying that the vote was in favour of striking sounds like it's happening for sure, and I wanted to head off any people who might read that as "no buses tomorrow" or something.

2281
Is this the same York Region that more or less ended a three-month strike by giving its contractors the finger and terminating their contracts? That was glorious.
