Blue Bus Fan
Service changes are coming to Ladysmith and new express route from Duncan to Ladysmith: https://bctransit.com/victoria/news/article?nid=1403646509427
Dane
Hmmm even with low ridership shame to see Sunday service get cancelled. Transit is a less credible alternative if it's out of service for an entire day a week.
Blue Bus Fan
Cowichan Valley Commuter routes could see Saturday in the coming years: https://bctransit.com/cowichan-valley/news/article?nid=1403647262757
Iron
Cowichan Valley should have received 6 Grande West Vicinity's. 4017-4022. Also, a very stupid opinion about the system. https://www.cowichanvalleycitizen.com/opinion/cowichan-valley-will-never-support-transit-system/
Matt Dunlop
A new Route (44) will be starting late October going from Duncan to Victoria. Apparently it runs on Saturdays, not sure about the week though. 4 trips a day. https://www.cheknews.ca/bc-transit-introduces-saturday-service-cowichan-valley-victoria-369933/
Stormscape
Looks like it's a Saturday only service, and during the week you're supposed to use the existing 66 Commuter service.

Too bad the 66 doesn't allow Victoria to Duncan in the AM and reverse in the PM. Also the new route is limited stops, does not stop near Millstream like the 66 does. Articulated
The new dedicated Transit Operations and Maintenance centre in Duncan officially opened on March 9, 2020. The provincial bigwigs made the trip up from Victoria for the announcement, as evidenced on the Facebook Live video posted. The new garage is just around the corner from Berk's Intertruck, who previously stored and maintained the buses. https://www.bctransit.com/cowichan-valley/news?nid=1529708389544
Articulated
BC Transit is consulting on a potential link between Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo. There's not much information yet, but there is a survey on the website. http://engage.bctransit.com/cvrd-rdn/

They would literally just need to extend the bus. At some point we need BC Transit to create a corridor system for intercity buses on the island, as pretty much all their transit systems fall along one highway, and nearly all interchange with (or get exceptionally close to) another transit system. It's time for a proper public intercity bus network.
Les Broughton
Noted today that First Canada's contract as system operator has been renewed and that they are taking over operation of both the Handi Dart system from Oak Transit and also the Youbou and Honeymoon Bay conventional routes from Cowichan Lake Community services.
Articulated
Due to the washout and closure of the Malahat Highway, the Duncan commuter buses had to cancel their PM runs yesterday, and are trapped in Victoria until the highway can be reopened. Tuesday's morning runs are also cancelled (would've had to been anyway, considering the buses and drivers aren't able to make it to Duncan). Quote Due to the severe flooding and road conditions, both the Malahat Commuter and the Shawnigan Lake Commuter will not be running tonight, Nov 15th. There will be no service tomorrow am, Nov 16th. We expect to resume service inthe afternoon on Nov 16th from Victoria, pending the highway reopens. You may wish you call the transit information line @ 250.746.9899 for further information. Sorry for any inconvenience. https://www.bctransit.com/cowichan-valley/news?nid=1529714438065
Articulated
Commuter service resumed on Tuesday evening, with the buses that were trapped on Monday returning northbound to Duncan as part of the regular afternoon schedule on Tuesday. Since traffic on the Malahat is restricted to one alternating lane while repairs are ongoing, service is being temporarily reduced for the rest of the week, with only two 66 trips (instead of 4) and one 99 trip (instead of 2) in each direction. https://bctransit.com/cowichan-valley/news?nid=1529714464095
